Chapter 7: Savior

Gabrielle's POV

The story ended up on the news but my identity was not disclosed.

I had firmly disagreed that I end up on any public platform.

I do not want to leave much trace of my existence.

I'm an angel.

Not a celebrity.

I woke up to the sunlight hitting my face again.

I sat up and started to pray before anything else.

It's a Sunday.

I took a shower and got dressed before heading off to the kitchen to have some breakfast.

My phone rang and I saw it was Bella.

"Heyyy"

"Goodmorning, Bella"

"Goodmorning, girlfriend. What are you up to today?"

"Nothing. Why?"

"Should we go to the mall with Mika and Brooke?"

"Sure, why not"

"Yey! We'll pick you up in 30?"

"I'll meet you in the mall instead"

"Okiii. I'll see you then"

"See you"

I finished breakfast and got changed again into something I could wear out.

I'm not planning on buying anything or shopping as humans refer to it.

I don't need anything, really.

I have everything I need and that's enough.

I drove the car to the mall's location that Bella sent me and I waited in my car.

I looked up at the sun and smiled before putting my arms up to cover my eyes slightly.

What a beautiful day.

But then a shadow completely covers it as my eyes met with Alexander's.

"The girls are waiting for you inside" he said and cleared his throat before looking away.

I nod and get off my car.

We head to the mall entrance and Alexander walked behind me.

I would've asked him to walk beside me but that will surely upset him.

Something changed about him.

He's more curious about me now and less angry. He still doesn't trust me though and I get that.

"Elle!" Brooke squealed running to me like she always does and I caught her again in my arms hugging her. She giggled.

"You look like her bodyguard, Alex" Bella teased Alexander. He only glares at her.

"Anyways, let's go shopping" she said excited linking her arms to mine and Mika's.

I hold Brooke's hand as we walked in the mall.

We go into different stores and Bella 'leads' the shopping. She picks clothes for us specially Mika.

I always decline but she still ends up buying things for me.

I watch as Bella skipped while her arm is still linked with Mika while I held Brooke's hand.

"Alex" Brooke called Alexander and reached her hand to him. Alexander looks at her hand and she pouts.

"Hold" Brooke said with a pout making Alexander sigh and hold her hand. Brooke giggled as she held our hands.

"Oooooh" Bella teased eyeing us. I chuckle.

"You'd look so great together if only Alex wasn't such an a---" she tried to say.

"Bella, you can't say that word" I say and glance at innocent Brooke. Bella pouts.

"What word, Elle?" Brooke asked innocently.

"It's a bad word, Brooke so I can't tell you" I said slightly crouching down. She nods in understanding.

We then decided to have lunch.

I sat beside Brooke while Alexander was on the seat in front me.

I helped Brooke with her food before digging into mine.

I knew Alexander has been watching.

"Alex, quit staring at Elle. You've been doing that since the beginning of our shopping spree" Bella pointed out. He sends her a glare and doesn't look at me again.

We finish up lunch.

We continued shopping.

Or atleast Bella continued shopping.

At the corner of my eye, I see a man holding a crying child.

I sigh.

"Alexander, please hold onto Brooke for me" I said giving Alexander Brooke's hand without another word.

I calmly walked to the suspicious man as he rushed to go to the exit of the mall to leave with the child.

"Excuse me, sir" I said and stood in front of me. He looked shocked and nervous.

"What?" he spat at me.

The little girl in his arm kept crying.

"That's not your child" I pointed out. I see the shock on the man's face but he holds on tightly on the child.

"Move!" he said and ran bumping into me in hopes he'd get away.

I react quickly.

I grab him by the back of his shirt, yank him and swiftly took the child.

It happened fast.

The little girl held onto me shaking while the man looked just about ready to pounce on me.

*prrrrt

He turned to look at his back as guards ran towards us.

"Sht!" he cussed and looked at me in rage. He was about to grab me but I dodged him and kicked the back of his knees making him fall.

The guards apprehended him and a distressed mother rushed to us.

"My baby!" she cried and I gave her her daughter.

"Mommy!" the little girl burst into tears.

I turned to see the man being held by 2 guards and then he snapped his head to look at me angrily.

"You btch!" he screamed at me.

I did not acknowledge him.

He has done too many evil things.

His heart almost black.

He needs to be punished.

The guards dragged him away leaving me with the mother and daughter.

I hold them both and as soon as my skin touches theirs, they relax.

The mother looks at me.

"Thank you so much" she said sobbing. I give her a smile.

"You're welcome" I told her. The little girl looked at me wiping her tears.

"Angel" she said reaching her hand out to me. I smile.

She knows.

I hold the little girl's face.

"I hope you grow up as a kind and loving child. Be a good daughter and sister" I said and the mother looks at me shocked.

"What do you mean?" she asked confused.

"I think you're pregnant. You should get a check up" I advised her. She looked at me wide eyed.

"M-me? Pregnant?" she asked. I nodded.

"Keep the baby healthy" was all I said before carefully caressing the little girl's hair and I walked away.

I just saved a child, a mother and an unborn child's life.

The child was supposed to be sold and get her life taken away. The mother would have become depressed and suffer a miscarriage then eventually commit suicide.

That was their cruel fate.

Until I came along.

That was my job here in Earth.

"Elle, what happened?" Bella asked me curiously.

She also had a worried look on her face.

"A k********g happened" I said with a shrug and I held Brooke's hand.

"What?!" they all said.

We took a rest in a cafe and Brooke laid her head on my lap and fell asleep.

I smiled as I watched her sleep.

I caressed her back and even whispered lullabies for her to soothe her.

I met eyes with Alexander and I gave him a small smole making him look away.

Alexander cleared his throat.

He was nervous.

"You're so obvious, Alex" Bella whispered to Alexander.

I could hear them both but chose to give them privacy and pretend that I don't.

We finished up in the cafe and Martinez and Brooke woke up.

"How was your nap?" I asked carrying Brooke as we walked out of the cafe.

"It was nice. Thank you" Brooke said with a smile.

"It's still pretty early. Do you guys want to go to a playground?" I suggested.

"Yes!" the girls responded cheerfully.

I looked at Alexander.

"He doesn't need to be asked" Bella said and dragged us away.

We went to a playground by the mall and there were other kids and other people there with their partners.

"Ugh. Couples" Bella said as the people with partners showed public display of affection.

Then, she turned to me.

"How many exes have you had, Elle?" Bella asked curiously.

"Ex-boyfriends?" I said.

Bella nodded.

We were seating by the shade and Brooke was playing on the slide.

Mika, Bella and even Alexander looked at me waiting for an answer.

"I don't have any" I said.

Bella gasped and Mika and Alexander looked shocked.

If only they knew why.

"You're kidding. Tell me you're lying right now" she said.

I haven't even lied about anything since I came to Earth.

"I'm not. It's the truth" I said.

Bella gasped again.

"Unbelievable. You haven't been in a relationship before? A goddess like you?" she said.

"Not a goddess" I said.

"But like are you serious SERIOUS?" Bella asked again.

"Yes, Bella, I am" I said.

"But why?" she said.

Because angels don't do relationships.

"I just don't want to" I said with a shrug.

I looked at Alexander and he was just staring at me.

I knew the thoughts going inside his head as he looked at me.

"Why don't you want to be in a relationship, Elle?" Mika asked curiously.

"I just have other priorities at the moment" I answered.

"It's such a shock, right, Mika?" Bella said and turned to Mika.

Mika nodded.

"I expected you to have one ex boyfriend atleast. Atleast one because I'm sure everyone is dying to have you as their girlfriend" I chuckled.

They were genuinely shocked.

"You know what, I should probably set you up with someone. Like a blind date or something. I know a few good guys" Bella said.

I shook my head.

"No, thank you. I'd like to stay as I am" I told her.

"But I promise it's going to be fun. The 3 of us can even go on blind dates together" Bella suggested.

Mika's eyes widened.

"No, thank you as well for me. I don't think I like that idea very much" Mika said as she flushed red.

"I'll just go to Brooke now" she said and ran off.

"But--" Bella was about to say.

"Bella" Alexander said in a firm tone.

Bella pouted.

"I guess not" she said and sighed.

"I'm going to Brooke and Mika" she said disappointed and walked away.

I sighed in relief.

The last thing I needed right now was get involved in 'dating' humans.

That would get me into so much trouble if that happens.

I'm not supposed to get involved with humans romantically.

I can't and I shouldn't.

It's one the greatest sin for angels like myself.

We go down to heaven to help humans and fulfill our duties to God.

We don't fall in love with humans.

That's not part of our mission.

That's not our calling.

Alexander and I sat with a distance.

He would glance at me every now and then but I ignored it.

Atleast I ignored the first 10 times he did.

"Do you need to say anything?" I asked looking at him.

Alexander looked back at me.

"Nothing" he lied.

He more than one thing to say to me and more than one question he wanted to ask me.

He's pride is what's keeping him from talking to me.

And he was also pretty embarrassed and shy to strike a conversation.

Brooke eventually came back and she sat on my lap facing me.

"I'm so happy and tired" she's said laying her on me.

I smiled as I caressed her back.

Not even a minute after, she was fast asleep.

I smiled.

"We should probably go" I said.

I stood up and Alexander tried to take Brooke from me.

"It's fine. She'll wake up if you get her from me" I said and carried Brooke myself.

We walked to the parking lot with a sleeping Brooke in my arms.

We arrived in Alexander's car and I carefully put Brooke in the child seat in the passenger seat.

"Bella, can you please check up on Brooke tonight?" I said to Bella.

"Why?" Bella asked.

"She's been having nightmares every now and then haven't she?" I said.

"How did you know that?" Bella asked baffled.

I know everything.

"A hunch" I said and shrugged. Bella nodded still looking confused.

I then leaned in to kiss Brooke on her forehead then I said goodbye to everyone before walking away.

It was a very tiring day.
