Chapter 1: Gabrielle

1553 Words
Gabrielle's POV I flutter my eyes open to the sunlight hitting my eyes. I shield my face from it as I sat up. I slowly look around my surroundings. A wooden cabin. Nice choice. I got up from my bed and looked at the window. "Nice. Thank you, God" I said pleased to see its beside a river. I stretch a little before walking in front of a full size mirror. I ran a hand through my light blonde defined waves and lightly touched my face as I smiled admiring my sapphire blue eyes. What a masterpiece. I skipped out of the door and into a small cabin living room and went into the kitchen getting an apple and some water before going out front. "Beautiful" I said with open arms as the sun's warmth gave me a sense of energy and the sound of the waters bring me peace. Earth should be like this. Not filled with so much pollution. I bit into the apple as I sat on a wooden chair. I wonder when will human realize that living in nature is way better than their 'city'. I sigh. Whatever. Their loss. I stand back up again and roamed the area and I cheer in glee when I see the garden beside the cabin. "Yipee! What a beautiful garden" I said smelling the flowers and checking the vegetable and fruit filled garden. God is spoiling me indeed. Then I went to the back only to see a white convertible as humans refer to it. I slightly frown but examine the vehicle. Then I smile at the realization that it's an electric convertible. "Yes!" I exclaimed. A win for mother nature. I look up the sky and put my thumbs up with a wide smile. "You're the best, God" I said and a breeze suddenly passes by me and I giggle. It's God's way of saying 'Of course, I am'. I finally went back inside and took a shower before dressing up to go and wander in the area. Gotta look fresh for my new animal friends. I went out again skipping through the woods. I met a bunch of cute little animals and even a few deers here and there and some boars too. It would've been lovely to meet a tiger or a lion but I don't think there's any right here. Sigh. But then I reach a clearing in the woods and my smile fades. The trees have been cut. Poor little things. I touch each and every one that I could still save. Those cruel humans. The poor creatures have lost a lot of their homes. How cruel. After making sure I've saved the remaining trees, I close my eyes and turn my hands into a fist. I breathed in and I slowly breathed out into my hand and open it to see seeds. Awesome. I planted each one in the soil with love to make sure it grows beautifully. Hopefully, the humans will refrain from cutting them down. I highly doubt it. They do as they please. I look around. This will take about a week tops for the trees to return after I've revived them. I pat myself on the back. Good work, Gabrielle. I continue to wander around until I've reached the paved road. I guess this is the road to the city. Figures. I walk back to my cabin uninterested. Not until I hear a scream before I could get there. Suddenly, I've transported somewhere else and I see a little girl about to drown in the water. I take action and run before diving into the water before the girl could fully sink. I held her hand and pulled her up with me. She gasps for air as soon as we come up and grips tightly to me. I hold onto the wooden platform and make way to land as the little girl held on to me tightly. Finally, we reach land. "Hush, little one" I say when she started crying and I cradle her into my arms. "It's okay. You're safe" I tell her as I caress her hair. "Shhh. I'm here" I console her and she started to calm down. "Brooke!" a man shouted. I turn to see a guy with black hair and green eyes who resemble the girl I'm holding. Her brother. "A-Alex" the girl whimpered and she reaches out to him and the guy takes her in his arm. "What happened?" he asked her worried. I watch the both of them quietly. "I fell in the water" she sobbed. The guy sighs but hugs the little girl. I stood up and squeezed out the water from my top. I'm drenched but that's fine as long as the little girl is safe. I look up to see the guy looking at me with furrowed brows. Oh. What's his deal? "Who are you and what are you doing in our private property?" he said grumpily. I want to explain myself to them but chose not to knowing it wouldn't make much of a difference. "You're welcome" I say before leaving them but even before I do, he holds me by the wrist almost yanking me back. Seriously? "Alex, no! She saved me!" his little sister stopped him and she squirmed from his hold as she landed on her feet and rushed to hug me. I looked down at her and caressed her hair as I pull my arms back from his grip. "It's okay, little one. You stay out of trouble, okay?" I say crouching down to her eye level. She nods slowly with a blush. "My name is Brooke" she stated. I smiled. "Oh my mistake. Be careful next time, Brooke" I said ruffling her black hair. She giggled. It was as of nothing happened earlier and she seemed well. "What's your name?" she asked me tilting her head to the side. "Me?" I say. She nodded. "My name's Elle" I told her. "Thank you for saving my life, Elle" she said sweetly. I cupped her face with a smile. "You're welcome, Brooke" I said. I stand straight back up again to look Brooke's brother who seems to be shooting daggers at me. How very nice of him. But I don't really expect anything from him whatsoever. Between him and Brooke, she was definitely the nice and warm one. "Brooke, hurry inside and I'll be behind you" the guy named Alex said. "But, Alex" Brooke said. "Brooke" the guys said in a warning tone. Brooke's eyes watered with tears as she refused to follow him. I went to Brooke to console her. "Why don't you go in and dry yourself off? You wouldn't want to catch a cold, right?" I said. Brooke's eyes softened as she nodded. She glanced at her brother once and ran inside. I then looked at the guy in front of me. He looked me up and down. "Let me ask you this again. Who are you and what are you doing in our private property?" he said. I looked at him straight in the eye. "You're not very nice" I pointed out. His brows furrowed at me. "For someone who is given almost anything and everything in life, you aren't very enthusiastic about it" I said. "Excuse me? Who the fck are you and why do you talk like you know anything about me" he hissed as he aggressively stepped forward. I didn't flinch nor step back. "You're not very hard to read" I said with a shrug. "What?" he spat "Also, are you really comfortable with this much distance? Personally, I don't care but you?" I said and stepped forward once. He immediately stepped back. I knew he'd do that. I know a lot of things about him. I know a lot of things about everyone. It's pretty common for us. "Who the fck are you?" he said. I smiled innocently at him. "I already told you. My name is Elle" I said. He scoffed. "Elle what?" he said. I tilted my head to the side. "Don't worry, you'll get a chance to get to know me more soon" I said. Then, I looked behind him. He looked back and once he looked at me again, I did what I had to do. "Sorry about this one" I said and I blew on his eyes and he stepped back rubbing both his eyes. "What the?!" he said and then I ran. Once I was in the woods, I teleported back to the front of the cabin. It's so good to be back and away from that human. Well, that was a great first day. Anyways, an angel's gotta do what an angel's gotta do. I walked back to my cabin still wet from jumping in the lake. I showered and got changed to a new set of clothes. After that, I went out to the garden again, planted flowers into some pots and then I roamed the area again familiarizing myself more of the environment that I'd be living in for a while. I skipped through the woods, twirled around with a smile as I happily familiarized myself in this place. Then, I stopped and then looked up as a ray of light shone on me. My mission is just about to begin.
