Gabrielle's POV
I walked to my next class but in a swift move, I'm dragged into another empty room.
"Are you following me?" he hissed.
"Excuse me?" I said looking at him in disbelief.
Alexander Smith.
Brooke's eldest brother.
The guy from yesterday.
"Don't play innocent" he said with gritted teeth.
This guy must have an attitude problem.
Unbelievable.
"I'm sorry but I don't know what you're talking about. Can you please move over so I can leave? I have a class to be in" I told him boredly.
He glared at me.
I sighed.
"Okay. Do you want to talk? I can talk. Is it about the incident by the lake again. What else do you even want to know about that day?" I said.
"Do you know how I got there? Well, I too have my own property there and I was roaming around the woods when I heard your sister's scream for help. Believe it or not, that's the truth" I said.
"Why did I seem like I know you? It's not hard to read a person like yourself and I knew you were a pretty well off guy seeing your private property and I would know your personality with your first reaction on how I saved your sister. It was not a very good one, I'll tell you that" I said and his brows furrowed at me
"Let it go. I do not have any business with you whatsoever. I'm just glad Brooke is safe and sound and that's what you should focus on instead of harassing me" I said.
His jaw clenched but he didn't say anything.
I used the other door to leave the room and went on to my class like nothing happened.
But as it turns out, he was also in the same class.
Now, I get why he thinks I'm stalking him.
But still, that's some accusation.
He really thinks highly of himself.
I ignored him as he shot me daggers with his look.
He should really calm down.
I'm not even the bad guy here.
Class ended and I made my way to the cafeteria with eyes still following me around.
They look like they've seen an angel.
Literally.
And well, they are pretty much looking at one.
I entered the cafeteria and spotted Mikaela in one of the seats. She met my eyes and I wave at her with a smile on my face.
"Can I sit here?" I asked politely.
"Are you sure you want to sit with me?" she asked.
I nodded.
"Of course, I do" I said.
Mikaela nodded with a smile.
I sat across from her as people continued to stare.
"Are you going to get your food?" I asked her. She shook her head.
"I have...a lunch box" she said shyly. I smiled.
"Cool! Me too" I said taking out my lunch box with vegetable salad and fruits that I prepared early in the morning.
Mikaela looked at me excitedly.
We we're about to start eating when someone suddenly sat on our actual table and Mikaela froze in her seat.
"Hey, Elle! The name is Emily. Emily Summers but you call me Em" she said. I gave her a smile.
"Why don't you join us for lunch instead? Surely you shouldn't be having lunch with this loser" she said in disgust and reached out to twirl on Mikaela's red hair and Mikaela flinches at her touch.
I lightly grab her by the wrist.
"No, thank you. Also, please keep your hands to yourself. It's very rude to touch someone without consent" I told her. She gasps in disbelief.
"Excuse me?" she said almost fuming in anger that I told her off. I smiled at her.
"Have a nice lunch" I said and people started murmuring and she flushed red before glaring at me and leaving.
Thank you, God.
"Elle, that was E-emily Summers" Mikaela said in fear.
"Yes, I heard" I said.
Of course, I know her.
She's what the humans call 'miss popular' because she's 'pretty' and 'rich' bit she's also mean and spiteful.
Well, if his father doesn't stop gambling, she'll soon be just 'pretty' and no longer 'rich'.
"She's very famous here, Elle. She...bullies a lot of people in the campus" she said shivering in fear. I reach up to her opening my hand. She looked at my hand confused but reached out as well.
I immediately felt her relax and I smiled at her to soothe her anxiety.
"I'll be fine, Mikaela. You will be too" I assured her. She smiled and sighed.
We ate lunch while trying to get to know each other.
Of course, I had nothing much to tell her. Or atleast nothing much I can tell her.
All I said was 'there's nothing interesting in my life because I live in a very small town and like to stay at home a lot.
It's the identity that I'm supposed to carry through my mission.
It's not a lie but it isn't the truth either.
Mikaela did have a lot of things she told me about herself.
None that I don't already know about though.
But that's fine.
I like seeing her happy to be able to introduce herself without judgement.
It's fun to let her express herself.
She's always been quiet and shy because people bully her a lot for no good reason at all.
Still, she's got a heart of gold.
God gave me a wonderful friend to be with through this mission of mine.
Classes started again and Mika invited me to her home after school.
Yes, I call her Mika now.
She told me to call her that instead since we're friends now.
She's adorable, really.
After 3 more classes, school was finally over.
I waited for Mika outside while I was in my car.
I heard whistling and I really didn't feel good about it.
"Hey, hot stuff" a guy called out. I didn't turn around but they leaned in on the car I was in.
They were a bunch of football players.
"You're the new girl huh" the guy said giving me a wink.
Yeah, no.
I refuse to deal with this. But then again, I have to if I want to fit in for my cover.
"The name's Ash Jones" he said and offered his hand to shake.
"Elle Martinez" I said and accepted his hand to shake but he brings it to his mouth to kiss.
That would be sweet.
Except I know what's going on in his head.
All those dirty thoughts about me.
Ugh.
Disgusting.
"Jones!" a familiar man's voice call out. All the men turn their heads.
"Sht" one of Ash's friends cussed.
I shiver at his words.
Why do people cuss?
"Are you going to fcking flirt or go to practice?" Alexander said angrily. Ash groaned and gave me a wink before leaving.
Alexander sends me a glare but I only smile at him.
"Elle!" I heard Mika's voice.
"Hey, girl. Let's go?" I said. She checks out the car excitedly.
"Nice ride" she said as I opened the door for her.
"Thank you. The father gave it to me" I told her with a wink. She giggled in delight.
We then drove to Mikaela's house.
It was a really big house.
Mikaela is actually very well off.
Her father is a kind CEO who helps a lot of people in need inside of work and outside of it and her mother is a house mom who takes care of Mika, the people in the house and also enjoys doing charity work on her free time.
Both her parents are very kind. They donate to charity and do good deeds often.
A woman opens the door with a bright smile on her face.
"Cupcake!" she greeted Mika.
"Mom, I'm with my friend" she whined while blushing. The woman looked at me and stared
"Good afternoon, maam. My name is Elle. I'm Mika's friend" I introduced myself.
"Oh my! Hello there. It's very nice to meet you, Elle" she said and gave me a welcome hug.
"She's really pretty mom, isn't she?" Mika whispered to her mom. I smiled.
"Mika you're definitely prettier" I told her and she blushed. Her mom looked at us lovingly.
"Come on in, girls" mrs. Carter said and we came in their house.
Then 2 dogs rushed to us excitedly welcoming us.
So cute!
I kneeled down patting and caressing them.
"Angel!" the dog thought as they wagged their tails enthusiastically.
Of course, they would know of my identity.
We sat on the sofa with the dog cuddling up to my sides.
"Wow. They really like you" Mika pointed out.
"I like them too" I said rubbing the dogs.
Mrs. Carter gave us snacks and the 3 of us ate it together while talking for a while.
Around 5pm, Mika and I went out and walked the dogs.
"You're really good with dogs. Do you have a dog too?" Mika asked curiously.
"Not really" I chuckled. There's no dogs where I'm from but I have met one before and they are a charm to spend time with.
We stayed in the park for a while.
"Elle? Elle!" I hear a familiar voice and turn to see a little girl running to me.
I smile and caught her in my arms.
"Brooke" I say softly and put her down caressing her hair.
"Do you live here too?" she asked her eyes shining. I shook my head.
"I'm here to visit a friend" I told her and turned to look at Mika's shocked and confused expression.
"Brooke, this is Mika. Mika this is Brooke" I introduced them to each other. Brooke shyly waved at Mika and Mika awkwardly waved back at her.
"Brooke!" a girl who looked younger than us came running to us.
Brooke's older sister.
"I'm so sorry" she apologized pulling Brooke away from me and looking up at me. She froze as she stared at me. I smiled at her.
"It's okay. We actually know each other. By the way, I'm Elle" I introduced myself. She snapped back into reality and gave me a smile.
"I'm Bella. Brooke's older sister" she said and we shook hands.
"Nice to meet you, Bella" I said. She smiled.
So many things were running in her head but it was all good things.
"Are you by any chance, a model?" she asked curiously. I chuckled and shook my head.
"You should definitely be one" she said still in awe. I smiled.
"It's not really something I like to do" I told her.
I introduced Mika to Bella as well and we stayed in the park chatting. I was really happy to see Mika engaging in the conversation as well.
I think I just made a new friend again. Or maybe even friends including Brooke as well.
