When Edmund emerged from the bedroom with the empty tray, Mathias pretended to be asleep, even when he felt his sire hovering behind the couch, watching him without saying a word. He wasn’t fooling anybody, but it was better than getting into an argument about not wanting to speak to him, and soon enough, Edmund disappeared into the bedroom again.
