Chapter 16It was easy to avoid them. When Edmund emerged from the bedroom with the empty tray, Mathias pretended to be asleep, even when he felt his sire hovering behind the couch, watching him without saying a word. He wasn’t fooling anybody, but it was better than getting into an argument about not wanting to speak to him, and soon enough, Edmund disappeared into the bedroom again. Neither of them came out for hours then, though Mathias could hear the faint echoes of their speech. He silently vowed that if they started f*****g again, he was leaving, but it never happened.
