Chapter 1
Natalie sat alone in the expansive sitting room, the only company being a bottle of liquor resting on the table before her.
With trembling hands, she raised the shot cup to her lips and downed its contents in one swift motion. The liquid scorched her throat, sending waves of searing pain through her body. She winced and clenched her eyes shut, trying to endure the agonizing burn that consumed her from within.
Although the world around her seemed blurry, she was still in her right senses. How did she know she was still in her right senses? That's because her hurt and loneliness still gnawed at her, eating her away. At the same time, the walls mockingly reminded her that happiness was only a dream to her.
The echoes of heavy footsteps reverberated through the room, causing Natalie to jerk her head towards the source. Her heart raced as she locked eyes with that of the familiar masculine figure, a flood of emotions swirling within her.
"Hey..." She said with a brave smile, trying so hard to shut out any visible sadness on her face. She couldn't bear for him to see the sadness on her face.
"Should I join you?" His deep, baritone voice echoed, sending shivers down her whole body.
"Of course, you can," she motioned for him to sit beside her, pouring him a drink.
"What's on your mind? You know you can tell me anything, right?"
His voice carried all the assurance she needed, but... How could she open up to him? How could she tell him she wasn't happy in this marriage? Not when he's been putting in so much effort to ensure this marriage worked out. She couldn't bring herself to doing that to his emotions.
Natalie only chuckled and downed another shot, "It's nothing. Let's talk about something else," she asked politely, avoiding his intense gaze.
She followed his gaze and found him staring at her bare thighs. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized she was putting on nothing but a small transparent nightie that barely covered her up, leaving so much to the imagination.
She got a little uncomfortable knowing that she wasn't even with a robe to cover up her exposed body.
She had come down to get herself drunk in order to forget her pains. She never expected him to be back home that night.
"Ahem..." She nervously cleared her throat, "I... Uhm... I'll be upstairs," she made to leave, but his strong arm held her tender wrist, pulling her gently to the sofa. His touch sent shivers down her body.
"Don't be ridiculous," he chuckled in a deep, throaty voice, his sea-green eyes holding all the innocence in the world. "I don't bite, Natalie. Sit and have your drink."
Less than an hour later, their voices could be heard from every angle of the mansion as they cracked silly jokes and laughed out loud at every word they uttered.
They were having the fun of their lives, both drunk to stupor.
"I can't believe it took me so long to do this..." The charming young man mumbled as he drew closer to Natalie, gently cupping her face in his large palms as he planted a brief, wet kiss on her lips.
Natalie let out a nervous chuckle, holding his lustful gaze. She pulled him in for a deeper, more needy kiss, letting go of all her pains and troubles.

The early morning sun peeped through the window blinds, casting subtle rays across the room.
Natalie groaned and stretched, letting out a small yawn as she wished to sleep some more, but she had to prepare for her big day at the office.
Her eyes slowly fluttered open as she struggled to adjust to the brightness of the room. "Jeez," she whispered as a piercing headache hit her.
Suddenly, she looked around her, and confusion enveloped her, "How... How am I here?" She thought to herself.
The last thing she remembered was being in the sitting room with... "Oh, my God!" Her heart gave a loud thud as realization gradually flooded in. This wasn't her matrimonial room.
Panic took over her as tears flowed freely from her eyes when she further realized she was lying naked. "No..." She whispered at the painful realization that was beginning to flood in when she heard a mild snore coming from the other side of the huge king-sized bed.
She slowly turned her gaze towards the direction of the sound as she prayed earnestly for it not to be what she was thinking as images of the man she had a drink with the previous night crawled into her memory.
Her gaze slowly rested on the sleeping face of the man who had f****d her all night - It was Roan, her husband's brother.
"No! No! No! Oh, my God! What have I done?" She jerked off the bed, her chest heaving heavily as more tears streamed down her cheeks, "Roan!" she yelled.
Roan stirred lazily from his sleep, his eyes still very heavy from the effect of the excess alcohol and lack of proper sleep he had.
"Roan! What have you done!" The piercing voice of an angry woman jolted him out of his drowsiness.
He looked around him, wondering what was going on, "What the f**k? What are you..." His calm, throaty voice, which never betrayed any emotions, filled the room.
Just as Natalia was about to utter her next words, she heard a car driving into the large compound.
She hurried to the window to have a look. Just then, she saw the familiar car come to a halt in the parking lot.
She could feel the whole world come to a standstill as her eyes rested on the last person she wished to see at the moment - Her husband.
