The future agents' day started off like this: The bell will ring at five in the morning and everyone should be outside within five minutes. The whistle will be blown indicating the start of the jog that would exhaust them at the very start of the morning, well, that was just before, with the months of doing it every day, their bodies cope with the changes and improved. They were not that tired anymore whenever they would do that.
Then they would have breakfast, they could also take a short bath after it, or do whatever they want as long as they would be back in the training room when it was already time. Then the agent assigned to them would already be there, the task that they had to do was already prepared before them. It would take a few minutes to discuss and explain what they should do, and then the task would happen that would eat up half of the day.
At lunch, they would all go to the agency's cafeteria in their dorm, and as usual, those who came as last with the task would eat vegetables while the others were the prepared food for lunch by their cook-agents. Then at the afternoon, they would come back to the training room for another task prepared for them.
Until it was night, at around nine, and everyone was awfully exhausted was their time to stop the training and time for their rest because the agency wasn't that terrible enough to wake them at five and make them sleep at midnight. They still value enough sleep they had to have.
And after that, the cycle would just repeat. It was just the different tasks and the improvement they could see to themselves that made everything interesting. They were always looking forward to what the agency had in store for them to be completely become fit on becoming agents.
And now that they were already in their last months, comparing to how they looked before which were thin, frail, almost bony or fatty, weak, couldn't even last a minute of continuous running before giving up, basically feeling useless back then. Now, looking in a mirror, they were on the right shapes, looking healthy, muscly even, their fats were eliminated, the bony bodies became filled with muscles and enough fats. The weak punches became the agent's level that could block out a normal person, their lungs didn't give out easily as well, they could run around the whole day without getting much tired, they could stay under the sun without passing out.
They were strong, and they were proud. They wouldn't want to be like that any other way. They were lucky to be under the agency and used their forlorn soul before to have a family now.
They weren't close before, but now, they were like family. Lance was one of the life of the party along with Hera.
However, it wouldn't always stay like that. They wouldn't stay in that lane for long, they all have to improve more. Their improvement now wasn't their fully equipped selves yet. They still have a lot of things to learn, and it was to their teachers.
"This would be your last day with us as your trainers," the agent that was assigned to them for training their reflexes and gut feel said, "With a year with us, we've seen how you improve, and you all now fit being under the care of the top agents. We will turn you all over them starting next week as the deliberation and choosing of students will start within this week."
"I'm kind of sad, excited, and nervous all at the same time," Andrea told them, crossing her arms on her chest as she looked at her feet.
The training was fun, especially that she got to have friends to depend on especially Hera whom she got the closest with since they were roommates. They often stay late at night and talked with each other about their lives before they all came to the agency, and her heart went with her for how unfortunate she was before.
But since Andrea was smart, she asked for her permission to hack her uncle and aunt, to which in Hera's curiosity, she agreed. She stayed by her side with all the process, until she obtained every piece of information her relatives had. She asked her if she was going to transfer all the money that was really supposed to be hers but only stolen, but Hera, as a person with a good heart suggested it to be transferred to charities, and so she did. They knew her relatives were all freaking out now and they would experience the same suffering as what they put Hera into.
She knew once they moved to different teachers, they would be in different places and would not see each other mostly, and that made the advancement sad. She was then excited and nervous though because it was another adjustment and training under the top agents, and to think that they were the top agents themselves, it was thrilling and exciting, they knew they would witness how they were in action, and they would learn a lot of things from them.
"It's normal. But we don't have a choice, it's for us anyway," Leira replied, her arms and legs were crossed, just like the calm girl that she was.
"We should focus on the last task though," Hera told them, watching as to how the agent pressed something on the wall and the whole training ground turned into something kind of terrifying.
The ground moved, the floor was tiled, and they just knew now that some of the tiles actually were movable and hiding mirrors under it, which when the button was pushed, it triggered the rest to be opened and everything just turned into a maze of mirrors that they could see themselves through the lots of mirrors.
"Oh, I look kind of haggard," Hera uttered with a frown, fixing her hair as a whole body mirror, or even larger than her, came face to face to her with her and show the wholeness of her physical appearance.
"Hello!" The trainees looked around, having no one seen around other than their co trainees. The agent was on the other side so they couldn't see the agent controlling it, but he was speaking through an intercom that loudly and clearly echoed around the room. "Can you hear me?"
"Yes!"
"Great. This last test would test your concentration. This is a maze of mirrors, but the twist would be you all are against each other. The agents would give you the gears and the guns of paints where you have to shoot the other trainees' white cloth at their backs, all while looking for the way out."
"Will this be a whole day task?" one asked.
The agents came out from the other side bearing their gears, helmets with clear shields for face, jerkins with white cloth already attached at the back, guns filled with different colors. They were given one each while they listen to all the things they had to do.
"No. You only have until lunch to do this. As usual, the last to go out would have to run around the oval for five times plus lunch with only vegetables. The last to go out along with a lot of color of paints on the white cloth. So, are you all ready?"
The trainees scurried wearing the gears and tried shooting their guns, the timer was also ready, the time that would determine how fast and how long were they going to be stuck inside.
"If you don't want to be attacked immediately, I suggest you go alone," the agent added, and it was immediately followed because it actually made sense, they would be easily targetted if they were close to each other. "Get your guns ready, set your minds on the goal of going out of the maze, we'll start in three."
The clock showed three, and the agent counted along with the countdown. As soon as he shouted one, the trainees went in. Groans were immediately heard, shrieks, screams and freaking out. Apparently, the mirror maze was more tricky than the usual maze. The one you thought was a way out was actually was a mirror and the reflection of the way where you came from which would lead you to bump your face onto the mirror.
It was funny, but it was also painful, especially when you were sure but turned out you're not and you just went for it with your all, the impact was butt on the floor. It was nothing different with Andrea, she even almost broke her glasses because of having no idea that the maze worked like that.
George however was kind of aggressive, since he would often see the other trainees, he would shoot them with his paint which would only hit the mirror because apparently, it was only their reflection and they were nowhere to be found.
They really looked like a bunch of fools.
"Leira!"
"Andrea!"
"Aww!"
On the other hand, the loudest shriek could be heard from Hera, she would always hit herself on the mirror, sometimes would scream Leira or Andrea's name so she could have at least a guide that would lead her, but she couldn't see anyone but a group of herself, looking so desperate and frantic as she held every mirror to make sure she wouldn't bump onto anything again.
"Were we like that before?" Warren wondered while they were watching from the second floor of the training room, leaning over the railings as they watched the trainees wailed and get lost around the maze.
"You were even worse than them, what are you talking about? You were the last one to go out, if not for Sean who went back in to find you, h
you wouldn't be out until now," Laura shot back, stifling her laughter at the memory.
"Dale's future student is really smart," Sean spoke, his eyes focused at the girl who was standing in the middle of the mirrors and carefully observing its end, looking for something that would tell her there was not mirror on that side, "She was using the strategy I did before. If you would look down, the side of the mirrors was evident, and if I don't see it, then it was a way to get onto another, then I would just repeat it until the end."
Andrea was really doing that, sometimes shooting the mirror itself to see if it would splatter or would fall on the floor, and it was her cue to move forward.
"Do you think she is even smarter than any of us?" Laura curiously asked, interested in the girl as well.
Dale smiled, "Yes. Probably the smartest around the whole country."
