It enjoyed its conversations with Carious as much as it was possible to do so. The First Augur was the only person who knew the truth, who could talk in unguarded terms about the nature of the Being"s existence. The man was even happy, on occasion, to discuss philosophical conundrums or scientific discoveries. In a sense, he and the Being were alone, the only two who knew the full truth about Omn. In other circumstances, Carious might even have been something like a friend. They were both trapped by the situations they found themselves within. They made strange twins, captor and victim.
