Victoria slams the car door and strides toward the house. Antoni follows at a more leisurely pace, careful not to slip on the ice crystalizing on the steps. It amazes him how Victoria is so confident on the icy steps, not looking down at all. It's as if she was born on the ice and is one with it.
Like it's her home...
He pushes the silly thought from his mind as he walks into the house. It's warm, just like during the dinner party a month ago, and Antoni feels his muscles relax. A pang of envy aches within his heart. The heat from the burning fireplaces isn't the only thing making the house warm, it's the energy itself.
