Emeliana and Demetrio have now been at the hospital for almost 2 hours and still, there is no word from any of the doctors, no word from Luca and no word from Emeliana either. She has been silent the entire time, allowing Demetrio to comfort her by remaining by her side. Demetrio is extremely worried about her, not knowing what is going on with her, and why she is like this, or what has even happened to Adriano. She is in a state of shock and because of it, she finds it difficult to speak. She feels trapped in her own mind, surrounded by a series of detrimental thoughts and she doesn’t know she’s going to escape it…

“Emeliana, you have to say something to me eventually…” Demetrio lets out as he faces Emeliana, watching as she focuses her gaze on the floor and stares at nothing in particular. Emeliana then slowly feels herself slowly zoning back to the present and she turns to look at Demetrio, meeting his worried expression.

“Adriano…” She mumbles quietly, her eyes having dark eyeshadow smeared across them from all her crying.

“Yes, can you tell me what happened to him now?” Demetrio asks softly, believing that he has given her enough time to get herself together.

“He… was shot…” Emeliana tells Demetrio and Demetrio turns his body slightly so that he can face Emeliana properly.

“I had guessed so but, who shot him…” Demetrio asks and Emeliana frowns slightly as she takes a deep shaky breath, trying to stop herself from crying again.

“Calvino.” Emeliana finally answers him and Demetrio frowns back at Emeliana, feeling his anger begin to build up within him.

He knew this was going to happen, and that's why he spoke against it but no one wanted to listen to him, and now Adriano might die because of it…

“Why was he there tonight? Didn’t Luca say that he doesn’t visit that particular club?” Demetrio shakes his head, not being to help himself from blaming Luca for this mess.

“I-I don’t know… I don’t know what he was doing there…” Emeliana shakes her head at him as she plays with her fingers nervously.

“Where is Luca and Calvino…” Demetrio asks carefully, still not understanding why Luca isn’t with them. He wasn’t supposed to leave her side…

“He’s taking care of Mattia… we managed to drug him… he’s also handling Calvino…” Emeliana says carefully and her face goes blank as she thinks about him…

“Will he be able to on his own?” Demetrio questions and he hates to admit it but he is still concerned about the wellbeing of Luca Genovese despite their differences.

“Demetrio, Calvino is dead…” Emeliana lets out slowly as she turns back at Demetrio, watching as his eyebrows raise in shock and he glances around to see if anyone is listening to them but luckily no one is…

“What?” Demetrio asks quietly. It is indeed good news that one of their enemies is out of the way, but Demetrio still wants to know what exactly transpired and what led to his death… “Who killed him?” Demetrio continues, his voice barely about a whisper. Emeliana then gulps slightly as she prepares to tell Adriano the news, not knowing how he’s going to react.

“I did…” She finally says and Demetrio’s face relaxed, being completely shocked that Emeliana was able to take her first life…

“Emeliana…” Demetrio is about to say but another voice sounds in the room, making both of them turn to face the source of the voice.

“Emeliana?” The Doctor from before calls, looking around the waiting room for a few seconds.

“Yes? That’s me…” Emeliana answers before she gets up quickly and rushes over to the doctor, frowning to herself slightly to prepare herself for whatever the Doctor is about to tell her.

“My name is Dr. Tana Fitz, I’m in charge of the patient you brought in earlier, Adriano…” She greets them as she glances between both Demetrio and Emeliana.

“This is Demetrio, he’s a friend… H-How is he?” Emeliana gets straight to the point, crossing her arms to stop them from shaking so much before she stares at the Doctor warily…

"The patient is stabilised. We managed to remove the bullet and thankfully it missed any vital organs... He’s going to be just fine. But for the next few days, it’s going to be extremely painful for him to walk, so he will need to use a wheelchair…“ The Doctor explains to them and Emeliana freezes before she lets out the breath she’s been holding, smiling at Demetrio before she nods quickly and looks back at the Doctor.

"Thank God..." Emeliana sighs in relief, not being able to help the tears forming in her eyes once again. "Can we see him now?" She asks Dr. Fitz as she tries to blink away her tears quickly.

"Yes, but he is unconscious, he won't be awake for maybe another 10 hours. He is physically exhausted and lost a lot of blood, also it will take some time for the anaesthesia to wear off.“ The Doctor explains and Emeliana nods at her before she lifts her chin up and straightens her posture.

"I'd.. like to request for him to be transferred..." Emeliana asks the Doctor seriously, causing a frown to appear on the woman’s face.

"To where?" Dr. Fitz asks Emeliana as she shakes her head slightly at her, trying to figure out where she wants Adriano to be taken.

“Emeliana..." Demetrio says to Emeliana, wanting her to be a little more cautious whilst talking to the Doctor, he doesn't want her to catch onto the kind of business that they do…

"To my manor... we have private doctors that will be able to take care of him..." Emeliana says and Demetrio becomes slightly nervous, believing that Emeliana is being incredibly reckless by making such an offer.

"I don't think it would be wise to move the patient right now, he is a very vulnerable and delicate state... " The Doctor advises them and Demetrio nods at her.

“Dr. Fitz is right Emeliana, just let Adriano stay here until he is ready to be discharged, they’re going to take good care of him…” Demetrio tries to convince Emeliana and also keep her from saying anything more. Demetrio then looks at Dr. Fitz who is staring at both of them curiously probably trying to figure out what sort of people they are…

“She’s in a bit of shock, after everything that happened tonight…” Demetrio tries to explain to the Doctor but it seems Dr. Fitz is already suspicious with the both of them.

“What exactly happened to him?” Dr. Fitz asks Emeliana as she squints her eyes at him and Emeliana becomes nervous, feeling as if she’s made a huge mistake by mentioning her manor and private doctors…

“Uh, we were on our way home from clubbing and then we got jumped… it was a hit and run, I-I didn’t see their face…” Emeliana tries to explain and Dr. Fitz doesn’t look like she’s buying it at all, the then takes a deep breath and looks between Demetrio and Emeliana.

“This sort of thing happens a lot in this town, the Mafia dominates this area and they’re usually at each other's throats, I’m sorry your friend got caught in the crossfire…” Dr. Fitz explains and for some reason, Emeliana grows incredibly anxious as she brings up the Mafia, nodding slightly and looking away from the Doctor for a second…

“Yeah, but uhm... Thank you, so much for your help…” Emeliana lets out before she quickly decides to change the topic. “Can we see him now?” Emeliana she asks and Dr. Fitz sighs to herself before she nods and begins to walk toward the same door she came through, but before Emeliana and Demetrio can follow after him, she hears someone behind her call her name.

“Emeliana…!” The voice says and Emeliana recognises it in an instant, turning around and watching as Luca rushes into the room, in a different set of clothes, probably because his clothes got stained with Calvino’s blood when he was taking care of the body.

“Luca…” Emeliana says and she exhales in relief, watching as he makes his way over to the three of them. Luca is visibly angry, his brows furrowed up and his lips forming a straight line.

“Where is Adriano?” Is the first thing Luca says when he reaches them, his tone is harsh and he is incredibly tense.

“H-he just came out of surgery but he hasn’t woken up yet, the Doctor says he’s going to be fine,” Emeliana answers him as she looks up at him. Luca sighs at her, still having a frown on his face and Emeliana can tell that he is trying hard to suppress his anger… is it because of Emeliana…

“Luca Genovese.” Dr. Fitz speaks up, grabbing the attention of all 3 people. Luca then turns to the Dr. Squinting his eyes slightly before realisation forms on his face.

“Dr. Fitz?” Luca lets out as he takes a step towards the Doctor just as Emeliana watches the both of them questionably.

“Why am I not surprised. Don’t tell me this is your brother Adriano…” Dr. Fitz shakes her head as if she is irritated.

“It is… I didn’t know you transferred to this hospital…” Luca tells her and she sighs heavily and crosses her arms.

“Yeah well it seems I made the right decision, with the amount of criminal activity this town has, there’s bound to be bloodshed…” Dr. Fitz says as she looks at Emeliana and Demetrio. So she does know about the Mafia, but the question is how does she know about Luca?

“Thank you for helping my brother Doc. Can you take us to see him now?” Luca tells her and she sighs to herself and nods at him.

“Right this way…” The woman tells them just as she begins to walk away. All 3 of them glancing at each other for a few moments before they follow after the Doctor…
