Breakfast

Chapter 5 - Ageha "I wish I could stay in my dreams..." That's what I thought when I saw everyone sitting at the table. There was an empty seat beside him, yet the way Makoto looked at me, and the fact that there was another one beside my father, in front of Samantha, was more than obvious where they expected me to sit.   "Did you sleep well last night?" My dad asked me, putting juice in my glass before I told him it wasn't necessary, but at least it was lemon, my favorite one. "You don't have to worry about that, uncle," Samantha immediately told him, not even giving me time to answer him. "She slept through the whole night, and didn't even get up for dinner." ... Just two days, and I could already swear that she hated me... "Actually..." I started to say, bringing everyone's attention to me. "I really slept well last night as Samantha mentioned, the bed was even more comfortable than I could have imagined it was." Somehow, my comment made her smile before she went back to eating her breakfast, again ignoring me as she didn't talk to me for the rest of the time we sat there. "Have you finished unpacking yet? Or do you still need help to finish it?" Makoto was the one who asked me that, sitting back in his seat after giving me a piece of the pie. The truth was that I was looking at him, who sat next to Samantha since I sat down, but the sweet treat was before him, making the others think that I could hardly wait to eat the apple pie that my cousin had done earlier. ... Yet, I just wanted to taste him... "Thank you, and not yet, my things are still in the boxes just as they arrived here yesterday," I answered him before tasting the sweet that seemed to melt in my mouth. It was so good, the best pie I had ever tried in my life, even winning over my mother's.  "So, do you need my help? I can get off work today if you need to." He politely spoke to me, and I couldn't believe he was even thinking of missing work for that. "No, no, you don't have to. I only have a few things, probably in half an hour I'll be done with it." Or at least, I hoped to. "Fine, but if you need to, you can always call me, ok?" I could see on his face that he was being honest about it. "And if you need anything when we're not at home, Yuki is off today." My father mentioned when 'Yuki' went to the kitchen, leaving only the three of us at the table since Samantha had already returned to her room. "His room is the last in the hallway opposite yours." That made sense as the two first rooms when we went up the stairs were my cousins', Makoto's on the right side of the house, and his sister's on the left side next to mine...    "Okay, if I need anything, I'll talk to him," I said as I got up, taking my dishes to the kitchen, hoping that this time I could talk to him as a normal person would be able to do, instead of the disaster from earlier. "You can leave them on the counter, I'll wash them for you." Soon as I walked in, he said to me with his back yet turned to me while he washes the dishes. "I think someone must have already told it to you, but I'm Yukihiro, by the way, nice to meet you."   ... For a brief second, our eyes met when he turned to pick up the things in the counter, and now I knew he was the Yukihiro person that my cousin mentioned to me... "Nice to meet you too, I'm Ageha, but you must know it already too." All my courage seemed to disappear from inside me when I remembered what I did when we met in the stairs. "... I'm sorry for leaving my mess for you to clean up earlier..." Honestly, I didn't remember how I got back to my room or how I passed through the pieces of glass on the floor. I just knew that the noise of the glass when it fell, made me remind again of the accident that I suffered years ago, and after that... I blacked out.   It always happened when memories of that nightmare, which I didn't know if it was true, or not came back to my mind. "Don't worry about it, but you didn't get hurt when you went back to your room, did you?" He asked me when he turned to me, allowing me to see his beautiful brown eyes in real life. "One of the shards of glass looked like it had blood on it, and I'm sure it wasn't mine, so are your feet okay?" "My feet?" Leaning on the counter, I looked under my feet, confirming what I already knew as I didn't felt any kind of pain. "No, they're fine. What you saw must have been just an optical illusion or something like that." I told him not knowing that I passed out in his arms when the memories returned rushing to me and that he was the one who took me back to my room. Seeing when he put me on the bed, the cut that one of the pieces of glass made when it fell next to my foot, which was perfectly fine now, without any marks of what had happened earlier.   ... Or rather saying, like it never happened...    "Yeah... It must have been that." He answered me while his eyes looked me up and down as if he was thinking about something before leaving me there alone when Makoto entered the kitchen. ... I wish he had told me whatever it was that had crossed his mind at that moment as...  I was only thinking about him too.
