Sliding Skill

Ryu is depressed. As the brilliant idea he has in mind couldn’t be realized. He already practiced so hard on his roller skate but it comes to naught.

“Darn! I already trained my next big move but there is no roller skate here. Did really have to give up?”

Ryu wanted to get a new skill for himself so he could be more proactive in battle. Right now, he also realizes that his biggest weakness is that he needs to wait for the party to make an opening for him before he could attack. He wanted to be an archer that could give the opening for the party instead.

Anyway, since he already comes inside the game with the purpose of practicing his new move, he doesn’t want to just give up there.

“How about I did it while sliding instead. I could run first for some distance and then slide. Although it wasn’t as stable as when I used the roller skate, it should still be similar enough. Ah, let’s try sliding first before shooting.”

Ryu makes some space for himself and then runs for a few meters before sliding down. He keeps moving back and forth running and sliding. He thinks that the idea is feasible since the slide was able to carry him for 3 to 5 meters which is enough for Ryu to aim. But first, he needs to make sure that the sliding technique was perfect that he will be able to get maximum distance each time. Hard work always pays off. At least that’s what his father always said, that’s what he believes in, and that’s what the Green World is all about.

Ryu also used the time to check his skill as well as his status.

From yesterday's hunt, he managed to raise his level to 18. With his current stamina, he can only do the 《sliding》 skill 3 times before he needs to wait for his stamina to refill. Of course, he can do what he did earlier without activating the sliding skill but what he did won’t add to the proficiency of the sliding skill.

When a proficiency reaches 100%, the skill could level up. When the skill reaches the max level, they could rank up if the condition is met. For now, the skill that almost levels up is his Bow Mastery at F1 80% proficiency. It will soon be leveled up to F2 and he will get increased extra damage.

Ryu liked to check how much each skill proficiency has. After all, if a skill managed to level up it means that he is becoming stronger. There’s nothing more satisfying for athletes like Ryu beside knowing that you are improving every day.

“Alright, even the system is helping me. Let’s try sliding a couple more times but this time I will try to shoot while sliding.”

Ryu used the sliding skill and then he tried to launch an arrow. It was unsuccessful at first but he didn’t give up. From each failed try he learns a little bit more on how to fix the problem. First, he needs to keep his bow and arrow out. He needs to run with the strings already been pulled. So, when he slides, he just needs to aim and release the arrow without the need to complete the whole shooting process.

Practice makes perfect. At first, he could only slide without even get the chance to aim. With more training, he could now aim while sliding. The complete set, he already loaded the bow before running. He slides and he aimed at the same time before releasing the arrow.

Finally, he is familiar with the whole routine and he keeps getting better. The arrow which at first was way off the target is now hitting it half of the time. The length of the slide was maintained at 4 meters average, giving more time for him to aim. The further the slide, the more time to aim.

After more tries, he could now execute the shot while sliding and hit the target 7 out of 10. While smiling because he is getting nearer to his own expectation, he didn’t stop and keep on practicing. When his sliding shot accuracy gets to 9 out of 10, he learned another skill.

Rising his fist in a victory pose, the system actually acknowledges his combined movement of sliding and shooting as a skill. Although the stamina consumption is double than normal sliding skill, the usage of the sliding shot surpassed the former. Not to mention the 10% increase in shooting accuracy while moving.

Suddenly he let out a creepy grin.

“If sliding shot considered as a skill, I wonder if I am able to do that.”

Ryu currently has an idea of another move on his mind. He is moving back and forth again but this time his shooting was a bit suspicious.

“*huff huff* as I thought, this is hard. But I can also see that this is isn’t impossible. The only problem is my mana didn’t regenerate fast enough to keep on trying. Yosh! Let’s try to increase the bow mastery skill proficiency while waiting for it to regenerate.”

Ryu is now practicing his shooting as one shot of an arrow increased the proficiency by 0.01%. When his mana is refilled, he immediately tries his new set of moves. While waiting for it to regenerate, he practices shooting. He keeps doing it continuously without feeling bored or tired. As an athlete, diligence and perseverance were engraved deep into his bone by his father.  He also enjoyed archery as he never even once thinks about giving up despite the harsh practice.

“Argh! I feel that I am so close to successfully do that.”

Suddenly, a beeping sounds ring.

“Darn it! It’s already morning. Did I just play all night? Sh*t I need to do my morning jog now or I will be late for hunting with the party. I don’t want to get the penalty and have my level decreased by 10. How can I lose to that little girl anyway?  Indeed, her reflex is quite good but I think it was mainly because I lack duel experience inside the game. I also need more skills in my skill list. The sliding shot could be a surprise but I need better skills. I wonder how to get a C rank or higher skill. Even the eagle’s eye as D rank is already amazing enough. Alright, let’s log out and run first. I will also try to practice my new move later.”

“Geoffrey, what time is it?”

“It is 9:01 princess.”

“That i***t slave is already late by 1 minute. Didn’t he know that it isn’t good to keep a lady waiting? If it was a blind date, he already got 1000 points deducted for being late.”

“Let’s give him some time Azalea. It’s only been a minute, not an hour.”

“I know it big sis but how dare he waste this princess precious time? Not to mention he make you wait for him too. Which boy out there could get this kind of treatment? Your pursuer might cut him up into little pieces if they know.”

Not long after, Ryu logged in into the game.

“Sorry, I’m a little bit late.”

The three however looked at the black eye bag under his eye and look at him with suspicion.

“i***t slave, you are late for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Don’t you know that this princess time is as precious as gold? How can you let me wait for you?”

“I already said I’m sorry okay?”

Seeing that Ryu won’t reply further to her, Azalea told them her plans.

“We will go through the swamp dungeon for two more times. That is enough to make the i***t slave reached level 20 so we can hunt in another area. I expected us to finish the hunt in 5 hours. After that, we will take a short break for lunch before continuing on.”

At first, the party didn’t think much about the eye bag under Ryu’s eye and him being late. However, as they proceed inside the dungeon, they notice something strange. Ryu’s pre-emptive attack usually hit the monster at their weak point and cause critical. This time, the arrow only hit their body and there is even an occasion where he missed his attack.

“i***t slave, did you eat something strange for breakfast? Why your attack is all over the place?”

 Azalea complained as one arrow almost hit her on the head.

Actually, this is also the first time for Ryu. The arrow doesn’t fly in the trajectory as he wished. He didn’t think there was a problem with his aiming but somehow his head feels heavy and a little bit dizzy.

“Young lad, looking at the black eye bag, perhaps you didn’t sleep at all last night? I knew it. That must be the problem.”

Ryu nodded at Geoffrey's question and didn’t know why his lack of sleep was being mentioned.

Ryu’s daily routine was strictly managed by his father. From childhood until now, he always followed the same schedule. For Ryu, this is the first time he actually stayed up all night and experience the effect. Just like using a car that usually drove smoothly in the city to the off-road track in the countryside. The experience was bumpy and uncomfortable for him.

When Ryu acknowledges that he didn’t sleep last night, Azalea looked at him with a strange eye.

“I know that you are still young and full of vigor. But to think that you stayed all night just to do that… Pervert.”

“What to do now princess?”

“The whole point that we run the swamp dungeon again is to increase this perverted i***t level. We could ask him to take a break first and resume it later but it will slow down our progress too. How about we enter the dungeon and clear it just with the 3 of us while this perverted i***t sleep on the entrance. Is it possible?”

“Honestly I don’t know. Since I never heard anyone enter the game just to sleep. But we can try.”

“Alright then, perverted i***t! Make sure that you really sleeping. That’s an order from your master!”

Ryu didn’t refuse the idea. He hated being a piece of extra baggage but his current condition wasn’t optimal. He feels a headache and its decreasing his focus when aiming. It will only get worse later on and he agrees to take a rest.

Ryu closes his eyes in a corner of the swamp dungeon and it didn’t take long before he sleeps. The three of his party members go without him onwards. However, not long after he goes to sleep, Azalea, Geoffrey, and Marina returned back to the place where Ryu is sleeping.

“Princess, do you really want to do this?”

“Of course, this perverted i***t needs to be taught a lesson. How dare he waste our time and now leech off free experience from us? Good thing I bought this marker for this kind of occasion.”

Nobody will think of buying a marker except classes such as 【painter】, 【architect】, or 【scribbler】. Clearly, Azalea already thought about using it for mischievous acts just like now.

With an evil laugh, Azalea started to doodle on Ryu’s face.
