15. Amendment

I wake up to Mike's alarm the next morning. I wiggle until he tickles me.

"You slept well, baby."

"I didn't dream about sex."

"Good job. You made it. Let's take a shower. Your little butt can go to school."

We get ready, and he leaves before I get my hair done. I finally get ready and Cyrus is standing in the hallway. I stare at him and tilt my head.

"You're awake. I forgot to grab my laptop."

I kiss him. He lets me in right away. I put my hands in his hair and tug it. I love his hair in my fingers. He kisses me deeper and pulls me closer.

"WOMAN, GET DOWN HERE AND EAT." Mike yells from downstairs.

I jump. "SORRY. COMING." I push Cyrus's hair down and fix his collar quickly then run for it.

Conner and I get out and make it to school on time. I sit at the table with the girls. Josh is here with Akmae. Then Conner sits beside me with his food.

Amber throws something at me. "You missed it, but we have to do the meal for the first game."

"Who is we?"

"Varsity hockey cheerleaders. We switch back and forth with the basketball cheerleaders."

"Who we feeding?"

"Varsity hockey, basketball, and cheer teams before the game next Friday. We do a meal for every home game. They happen to have home games on the same day."

"Who pays for it?"

"The school. Kind of. If we go over a certain amount, then we have to do a fundraiser."

Conner kisses my head. "No way in hell, woman."

I roll my eyes. "What do you want to eat?"

"Barbeque." Josh answers first.

"Hell yeah. Chicken and burgers with some of your cottage cheese salad." He kisses my head again.

"That works. We can spend the school money for the barbeque people to do the meat. Then we can each bring a side." Amber side eyes Conner. "It's not a fundraiser that way."

"We'll need one with the amount of cottage cheese salad she's going to have to make."

I crack up laughing. "I'm going to need like 5 gallons of it. Can I use the omega's to help dice stuff?"

"Of course, baby."

"I'll bring the potato salad. We can't have a barbeque without that." Lexi stares over Amber's shoulder and watches her type into her phone. "That guy is amazing."

"I have an idea." Jenna gets her phone. "Give me a minute."

"Baked beans." Lila fixes her hair.

"Jalapeno corn." Kristen stands up. "I need to go to my locker. See you at lunch."

Lauren nods. "Me too. I'll bring watermelon salad and ice cream bars. That will be enough for dessert."

"Perfect." Amber smiles. "I can get drinks."

Jenna sits up. "My cousin is trying to get into the catering business. He said he'd make a pig, but we have to buy it. They're normally around 300. He'll show up with the cooker thing and bring his big grill for vegetable kabobs. So, that's what I'm bringing. Vege kabobs."

"He won't charge to show up?"

"No. He's trying to get into business. A lot of people will see him here. It's worth it for the publicity. But we need $300 out of the dinner fund for the pig."

"Awesome. I reserved the guy who does chicken. He was 1,000."

Akmae smirks. "You have $700 left for a burger guy now."

"If we can come up with an extra hundred, this guy..." She shows us her phone. "Does pulled pork and burgers. That's with the toppings and everything."

Conner gives her $100. "Do not do a fundraiser."

"Why are you so against fundraisers?"

Lila cracks up laughing. "Darkmoon bought 10,000 boxes of cookies."

Conner makes a weird noise and shakes his head. I giggle and kiss his cheek. He gives me a wink and pulls my chair closer.

"You're both going?" Amber is bright white and her mouth is hanging open.

Conner chuckles. "Yea, they had a fit. They had to go to that camp."

Josh laughs. "Now I understand why you hate fundraisers."

Jenna stands up. "Let's go to class before we're late."

Lila nods. "And before Conner gets another detention."

He rolls his eyes and helps me up.

Science is hard. They've been working on making water filters the last 2 days. Now I have to do it on my own without a lab partner. I don't know how to do this. I stare at the items for a while, then a girl lets me copy her notes. That was nice. Maybe the tutor will help me with it.

I'm standing in the hallway after algebra and people around me start making noise. I look up and Drogon is coming for me. I jump up and down and he runs over. He spins me in a circle and kisses my head. "I have a meeting with Penn. You doing ok today?"

"I'm perfect. I love you." I straighten his tie.

"Sir, we need to keep going."

"I know. But I needed a hug." He hugs me and kisses my cheek. "I love you too. I'll see you after school."

"Have fun."

"No chance of that happening." He smacks my butt as he walks away. 13 men in suits follow him.

My locker neighbor smiles. "You're so lucky."

"Oh, I know." We giggle and I go to my next class.

Conner sits by me at lunch. "Good job finding the tacos, babygirl."

"Thank you. I'm going to eat this every day."

"I don't doubt it."

Akmae smiles. "Did you get the notes from science class?"

"Yea. I don't get it though. I'm hoping Mrs. Crew will help me with it this afternoon."

"What do you have her for?"

"Tutoring."

He gives me a weird look as Amber plops down. "I got the meat people booked for next Friday. Everything went perfectly. Who got heart chocolates today?"

Lexi smiles. "I got 3."

Lila sticks her tongue out. "5."

I scratch my head. "What are they for?"

"People can buy them for $1 on Wednesday. They get delivered to whoever you buy them for during 1st period on Thursdays."

I glare at Conner.

"I didn't know, and I wasn't here yesterday. I'll buy you 2 next week."

"This is what it is." Lila hands us a note with a chocolate heart taped to it.

"It doesn't say anything. Who was it from?"

"No idea. People can write on the card or leave it blank."

"Someone must like you."

"Doubt it. They're probably from Lauren. She buys them for one of us each week."

Lauren sits down. "I sent 1 to all of you except Thena. I didn't know if you'd be here or not. I don't know what they do with them if the person is absent that day."

Conner gives me a dirty look.

I give it right back. "She's not my boyfriend."

He pulls me closer and kisses my neck. "I'm not your damn boyfriend."

"DETENTION." The red paper lands in front of him.

I rub my eyes and try not to laugh.

Penn picks it up. "Maybe you could put a chair between you."

Lila shakes her head. "It doesn't help."

Conner growls and helps me up. He walks me to my tutor room and kisses my hand. "I love you."

"I love you, Conner." I step close and kiss him. "And you are my boyfriend. And my love. My everything. My soulmate. My king."

He smiles and gives me a little kiss. "My queen."

"You have to open the door for it to work." Mrs. Crew opens the door for me.

I giggle and go in with her. But not before Conner gives me a hug.

She spends the afternoon helping with science. Then I go to cheerleading practice. Tadita spends an hour going over hockey cheers. Then we have to tell her what we're doing for the dinner. She seems pleased when practice is over.

Lila and I follow Amber to the gym.

"Did you hear June found her mate?"

I put my feet up. "Good for her."

Lila nods. "She's already marked. I saw her in the hallway earlier."

Amber shakes her head. "I would be so embarrassed if she was my mate. Everything she does is embarrassing."

Lila cracks up laughing. "The whole team is embarrassing. She fits in perfectly."

"I guess that is true."

I shrug my shoulders. "She could be the best cook in the world. We don't know anything about her outside of cheer."

"She is probably as big as she is." Amber rolls her eyes.

Akmae sits in front of us. "What are you girls plotting today?"

Amber crosses her legs. "Did you hear June found her mate?"

He gives her a funny look. "Who's June?"

"Ugh. Nevermind."

I can't help but laugh. "She's one of your cheerleaders."

"Oh. That's cool, I guess."

She stands up and walks away. "You're boring."

Lila and I slide down and sit on each side of him. "Smell this." Lila holds her arm out to me.

"Smells good."

"It's my new perfume."

"You girls are as boring as me."

"Yea."

"What did you do now?" Lila points at Drogon coming in the door.

"Ugh. Nothing. The guards are here. I don't know what he wants."

He walks over and stands in front of me. "What are you doing today?"

Lila glances around. It's only the 3 of us in the gym. "I guess we're both making out with Akmae today."

Akmae cracks up laughing. Drogon shakes his head. "Lucky man." Then he leans over and kisses me. "I'm having another meeting with Penn. I'll be home late."

"I'm still here too. You want me to come with you?"

"No. You're fine."

"Want to make out with me when your meeting is over?"

"No. I'm not going to make out with a student in the gym."

Lila about falls off her chair laughing. "Yea, the king probably shouldn't do that."

"But I'm the queen." I jump for him.

He catches me and pats my butt. "I'll make out with you later. When we're not at a school."

"UGH. Go." Conner walks in having a fit.

"What?"

He takes me from Drogon. "Tell that w***e to stop being a whore."

"Who?"

"Jen? Jenna? I don't know her damn name. She is blowing someone in the locker room now."

I give Drogon a dirty look. "And you were worried about making out."

"Woman, I can't get the image out of my head." Conner slams his eyes into my shoulder.

The rest of them crack up laughing.

I rub his head and whisper. "You can pick a flavor for me to try tonight."

He kisses my head as he puts me on my feet. "That fixed it."

"Glad I could help. I want to go home."

"I'll take you."

Drogon nods. "I'm going to be at least another hour. Jax is meeting me here. Tell the help +1."

"Why?"

"Turns out we have kids starving all over the city. He collected some information from inner city schools for me."

"Damn. Have fun with that."

"Yea, we're finishing the law amendment tonight. We'll be late."

Lila stands up. "You sure are in a hurry."

"Yes, I am. There is no reason for a child to go hungry."

"Any child." Akmae stands up. "I have a cousin that uses school resources for her kid. Last time I was there, her little boy came in with a bag of food. She said the school gives him food every weekend. It's to fill in breakfast and lunch since he can't get it at the school."

"The school does that?"

"I think so." He shrugs his shoulders. "I can call her if you want. I think he gets his meals free, then the weekend bag thing."

"Yea, call her and come with me."

Conner picks me up over his shoulder. "Have fun. We're going home."
