I saw the flicker of fear in her eyes and I felt even worse. I didn't want her to know or even feel pain for a second but it seemed as though I couldn't help myself.
I placed my hand on her shoulder and drew her close to me. "You can't come with me. I'd make sure that you are safe. No one will be able to hurt you. Do you understand? I will make sure that you get everything that you need because it's my duty."
She grabbed my arm like a giant rock, "I don't know what you're talking about but I am not going to allow myself to remain helpless. I don't trust anyone around here, except you."
