I. Sebastian
Skylar’s POV:
“Wake up fatty,” a deep voice said as he pinches my cheek, but I ignore it. I throw my fat leg over his, holding onto him like a leech. “You’re so fat,” he grunts. He attempted to push me off, but I'm too fabulous for that.
“Yo mama is fat,” I reply, placing my hand on his face and slapping it lightly.
“Sky have you been watching those Yo mama shows again?” He asks. I lift my head to see Sebastian, a grin break out on my lips.
His eyes were a beautiful shade of chocolate, covered by his slightly long dark hair and I made a mental note to cut it while he sleeps which will make him angry, but he will forgive me soon. He brushes his hair back, a low sexy grunt leaving his throat as he pushes me off the bed.
My face made contact with the cold hard floor. “My beautiful face,” I muffle into the cold wood.
“I told you I’d push you off my bed if you try to sneak in again,” he said, stepping over me.
I turn my head to see Sebastian heading towards the closet to put on some clothes since he’s in his boxer. Biting my lips, I had the largest urge to pants him, but I fought the naughty devil within me. “How did you get in any way? I specifically remember locking the door and window this time,” he said, pulling on a pair of grey sweats, defined muscles flexing with every movement.
My eyes went towards the scars and bullets all over his body, wanting to poke it. There’s a narrow pillow of milky scar tattooing across his broad olive skin shoulder. I asked Sebastian how he got those, but he always replied with: “Work.”
My lips curved upward when I saw a tattoo of the words, Little Mermaid on his waist.
When I was fifteen, I got a call to pick up a wasted Sebastian, because he refused to leave the bar. I am a sweet girl, so I went there and dragged him out by the ear out of the bar. Apparently, that’s something no one would dare do.
He threw up on my favorite shirt.
So, I tricked him into getting a tattoo of my favorite movie.
The look on his face was priceless a week after when he went to the bathroom, seeing that tattoo. I’m not surprised he didn’t notice it earlier, Sebastian tends to be empty-minded, and he has tattoos all over his body.
I roll towards him, stopping at the closet door, and pull out a bobby pin from my hair. “You unlock my door with that?” He asks, pulling on a white shirt, that couldn’t hide his mouth-watering muscles.
I scoff, “No, I made a copy of your key while you’re not looking. I forgot to take out this pin from my hair last night.” I rolled my eyes, “i***t,” I mumble, then roll out of the bedroom and towards my room.
“Why are you always rolling on the ground? Can’t you walk like everyone else?” Sebastian shouts.
“Walking is for peasants! I am a princess, we roll!” I scream, hitting my head against the door. “Ow!”
“Hit your head again?”
“It’s the door fault! When are you going to install automatic doors like every other rich, powerful guy?” I shout.
“When I decide to put an escalator in here!”
My body jumps up, and I dash back into Sebastian’s room. “Are you going to put an escalator in here Sebby?” I ask a smile on my face, and he flicks my forehead.
“You need to get your priorities straight,” he said, walking downstairs while I cling to his leg.
“For f**k sake Sky, you’re seventeen, why do you will act like you’re still thirteen?” He drags his leg.
I pout, “I don’t want to walk,” I grunt, clinging to him tighter, throwing my head back to peek under his shirt. I’m a p*****t, and I’m not afraid to admit it.
Sebastian unravels my arms and legs and throws me into my bedroom. “Get ready for school!” He shouts like an old man.
Four years ago, I came to Japan, to show Sebastian who is the old lover of my Grandma Grace a piece of my mind. He left Grandma Grace and broke her heart.
I love Grandma Grace since she is the only person kind to me in the family. I remember how she would always sing me to sleep even though she is not very good at it, causing me to stay awake for hours, trying to knock her voice out of my ears.
Grandma Grace and Sebastian are the fourth and fifth in command of the Custodes, two of the fives who ended Acqua Rossa Spessa, so they are both immortal. Even as time passes, and everyone ages but they still stay the same, in their youth.
Currently, Sebastian is my guardian until I’m at a legal age, causing him to be extremely annoying all the time. He behaves as if he is my father, always telling me what to do. I remember bringing home my first boyfriend when I was sixteen, and he threatened to shoot him if he didn’t leave.
He shot his toe.
The guy broke up with me through a text message and transfer school.
It’s just a toe! Geez!
Then, again, it may be because Sebastian runs Daku which is one of the three most powerful Hunter’s clans that causes everyone to fear him. I don’t see why they have to fear Sebastian though. He is an annoying but kind old man, who farts and burps like any mortals.
I grab my school uniform, a short blue skirt, and a white top. Pulling on my knee long black socks, I grab my red tie, pulling it around my neck. Taking a hair tie, I pull my hair into a ponytail and twirl in the mirror. “Yup! Still hot!” I told myself and skipped out of the bedroom. I skip backward when I realize I forgot something. I put on the emerald green turtle earrings that Sebastian got for me for my fifteenth birthday; they are my favorite.
Hopping downstairs, I slip on the last step, closing my eyes to get ready for the impact. When I didn’t feel anything, I opened it to see Sebastian’s arms wrap around me. “Stop making this into a routine,” he grumbles, the other hand holding a plate full of bacon.
“Bacon!” I shout. I grab it and shove it into my mouth. Sebastian looks at me, shaking his head. “Oh you knew this was going to happen, don’t look at me like that Sebby.”
We sat down and started eating breakfast together. I made a happy face out of whip cream with my pancake, kicking my feet back and forth, then devouring it while Sebastian drank his black coffee, eyes staring at me with disgust. He shakes his head, placing his cup down. “Sky we need to talk.”
I cover my ears. “I don’t want the s*x talk again. I swear I’m still a virgin-” I pause, “unless you want it.” I wink at him, then burst out laughing, shoving some fruits into my mouth. I start choking on it, and Sebastian slides me a cup of orange juice, which I quickly chug.
Sebastian rolls his eyes, then covers my lips. “Don’t say bet you didn’t see anything back there,” he took the words out of my mouth.
I nod my head, swallow the food, and lick his hands causing him to groan in disgust, rubbing my saliva against my face. “If it’s not the s*x or puberty talk, what is it?” I ask.
I remember having those talks with Sebastian whose face was tomato red the whole time he explained everything. We sat there for roughly over half a day for each conversation, and in the end, he showed me online videos instead.
Then, I had to explain to Sebastian why online videos are inaccurate according to what I read in the books. It was funny seeing him staring at me, left eye twitching while I explained the whole puberty process with photos.
Sometimes, I wonder who is the real child between us.
He releases a sigh, cupping his hands together, bending over the counter, flexing his muscle.
His eyes are on his face. Eyes are on his face. I repeat, attempting not to stare.
“You need to stop sneaking into my bed Sky,” he said in a serious tone.
“Why not?” I ask, wrapping up the bacon and pushing it into my bag so I can eat it later.
“Look Sky, I am a grown man, and you are about to be a grown woman,” he pushes a finger on my forehead, causing me to tilt backward. “That is if your brain decided to grow with your body.”
I stood up, and he stops talking. Then, I did a pose, with my hand on my head, another one on my waist and kicked out my hips. “Am I-” I pause, puckering my lips. “turning you on?” I attempt to do what I presume as a sexy pose.
He places his head in his palms. “I thought all girls mature at a fast rate,” he mumbles, grabbing his car keys and head out.
“Wait! You didn’t answer me! Am I sexy? Too sexy that you’re feeling uncomfortable?” I shout, chasing after him.
I stopped when I realized I didn’t have my school bag and went back to grab it. My eyes lock with the plate of bacon, and I grab it. “Wait! Sebby!” I shout, hearing the engine start.
I jump in the car, and he reaches for a piece of bacon. I slap his hand. “Don’t touch my bacon.”
“This is why you’re getting fat,” he mumbles, driving me to school.
“I’m not fat! I’m getting ready for hibernation!” I snap, feeling my rolls of fat.
“In the middle of spring?”
I wiggle a finger in the air. “Hibernation is a year-long process Sebby. It takes a lot of skill to master it,” I place a hand on my chest, “And I am a woman who does not give up once I start something.”
He rolls his eyes once more, running his tongue through his teeth letting out a tch sound. “Yeah sure woman,” he said mockingly, and I pinch the nonexistent fat on his stomach.
I turn on the radio, fiddling it with the station until I reach a good song. I start dancing in my seat, shoving more bacon into my mouth.
Rolling the window down, the freshly polluted air of Tokyo hit my face, and I love it. The mouthwatering reverence food delivered with such deep respect and meticulous care, even in fast food joints. Everyone is extremely polite and kind, well not everyone but many. I enjoy breaks from the school where Sebastian takes me to the countryside, to be one with nature or some crap. I love Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun.
When we reached Erito Koko, my high school, I waved at everyone who laughed at me and waved back. “How are you always so happy Sky?” Sebastian asks, and I grin at him.
“Because life is great!” I chirp and slap his arm. “My friends are here! Stop Sebby! Stop!” I shout into his ear, and he stops driving.
I threw the door open and jump out. When I remembered something, I shuffle through my bag. “Open your mouth,” I said, and he lifts a brow then opens his mouth, knowing it’s a lost cause to ask me questions.
I shove a piece of bacon inside and kiss his cheek seeing it turn light pink. “Thanks for the ride again Sebby,” I smile before slamming the door shut and run over to my friends
“Akira!” I shout, hopping on her back. Out of reflex, Akira tucks her arms under my legs to hold me up.
“Why do you always jump on my back Skylar?” she hisses.
“Hi Kei and Momo!” I wave at them.
“Good morning Skylar,” they respond, messing up my hair.
I was going to leave as soon as I gave Sebastian a piece of my mind, but while I was in Japan, I accidentally made some friends. I remember the day I met the three of them. I was walking down the street, minding my own business, with a bag of snacks I bought for my trip back home. Then, a rock hit my eye. I was hospitalized for a week, and the three of them would always visit me.
Akira was the one who hit my eye with the rock, saying how she was trying to aim it at a bird and my balloon head was on the way. I fought her in the hospital, and she kicked my ass. It was an unfair fight though since I had a patch on my eye, plus she was trained to be a professional hunter.
Akira and Kei came from a long line of hunters while Momo is a human. Despite being a mermaid, they treat me like family. Which is more than I can say with my own kind back in the water.
When I decided to stay here, I begged Grandma Grace and cried for hours over the phone. Then, I would hang onto Sebastian’s leg for days, threatening to cut off his balls if he doesn’t let me stay. He didn’t let me stay and kicked me out in the rain, saying how he doesn’t have room. He lives in a mansion all alone.
I called Aria, the lovely anger issue lady I met when I first arrived in Japan. She turned off the phone before I could even finish talking. So, I broke into Sebastian’s secret profile, got every Full Moon Pack member number, and harassed everyone, until Aria helped me.
I don’t know how, but she somehow manages to convince both Grandma Grace and Sebastian to let me stay. I tucked her number into my back pocket, making a mental note to myself to use her as a last resort.
Turning my head, I saw Sebastian sitting there, munching on the bacon and I waved at him, causing him to shake his head and drive away.
I must admit, life is going great for me. I have a roof over my head, great friends, and Sebastian.
Sebastian...
Sebastian belongs to Grandma Grace.
Is what I tell myself all the time.
Over the years, I realized I saw Sebastian more than a guardian, even if he isn’t an excellent one.
I like Sebastian.
