Chapter 4 As Wayne was trying to decide how to reply to DeLong’s half-serious remarks, Vince Rondel walked into the commissary. Rondel was of medium height and blocky, like a former college football player not big enough to make the pros and subsequently gone to seed. Most Dreamers dressed casually—Wayne was in jeans, a tee-shirt and sneakers—but Rondel always wore a suit. He only had a wardrobe of two that Wayne had ever seen; the material on both was cheap, but they were always neatly pressed. The cut of the jacket only emphasized Rondel’s blocky body, and made his head appear half a size too small. His face was clean-shaven and his blond hair was neatly combed, thinning slightly toward the front but not yet bald. His fingernails were always manicured, and his hands were always clean.
