Aziza shut her eyes and pulled her emotions together. Nothing else mattered, not even her own pain. She just had to find Damon. With that, she opened her eyes and paid her attention to the house and her environment again. Maddie didn’t trust Mrs. Roxwell and her pets didn’t either. She had no reason to trust them, but she had wronged them and they had all the rights in the world to hate her. Even without having a reason, people could easily hate the next man. There was no way she trusted them. But for Damon, she was willing to walk through fire. Not like it was one but she was willing to do that, just to get him back.
Not giving herself a chance to let her emotions get the best of her, she zoomed straight for the house and ran past the gates. However, she didn't just run in and stopped in front of the door.
At the sudden wave and pressure of air and dust, guards immediately turned to her and immediately they brought out guns and all sorts of weapons and they pointed it at her.
“Tell, Flossie, that Aziza is here to see her…” she ordered. They could do nothing to her and they were not dumb enough to attempt anything. She could have easily walked in if she wanted but she didn’t. That was enough to tell them that she didn't want trouble and she never looked for trouble in a place that it was not needed. The guards didn’t exactly make a move as she wanted them to. They had been spooked by her sudden presence and needed time to get their bearings together. It took a while but soon enough, a guard took the initiative to step forward and do just what she wanted.
With his gun pointed at her and with careful steps and eyes fixed at her, he started slowly towards the front door, where she stood so close to. He looked so focused, he might fire her right in the head, if only his heart was not racing so much, her ears were going to explode at the sound of their heart beats. He slowed down even more when he got close to the door, scared of going an inch closer to her and Aziza had to step away so he could go in. When he walked in, the others simply watched her and she waited patiently, while listening in on her environment. It was awfully quiet even at a distance. It didn’t look like anything would be happening anytime soon.
“Better don’t let your guards down,” Nisha entered seriously. Giving her a warning. She was the childlike and unserious one amongst all her pets and to hear her speak that way made Aziza take the heed.
Flossie was having dinner alone in her room when a maid had knocked at her door. She groaned, finding it disturbing but not as much since she didn’t have much appetite to eat anyway. It was one of those days that she was home alone again since Ethan, her husband had gone to one of their warehouses to check on something that had gone wrong. The city was crawling with criminals and darker places and it was worse since Aziza was leaving a bloody trail behind. But someone had to overlook their company. While the VPs and her father-in-law watched over the company, Ethan watched over the darker places. Such as warehouses, undergrounds, and illegal stuff that no one knows the Roxwells were engaged in. Her son did so well to take care of all these and only at his disappearance did they see his worth and how smoothly he handled everything. But then again, it wasn’t like one person could not handle both sections of their company. It was simply because the both men were doing all they could to keep their head straight and not think about their missing son. Distracting themselves was a good way to start and they were doing it so well.
“What is it?” she asked when the maid walked in with a lowered head.
“A guard asked me to inform you that you have a guest…” she entered, shakily.
“At this time of the night?” she mumbled to herself and straightened up.
“Who might that be?” She turned to the maid. She lowered her gaze even more and shivered at the thought of Aziza in their house.
“Well….” She mumbled and shook even more in fright.
“It’s…Aziza.” She stammered.
Flossie’s eyes went wide immediately and she jumped off the bed.
“She is here…” she started towards the door in haste and a pounding heart. She had been hoping that she would show up.
“Ma’am.” The maid followed her immediately, seeing nothing but danger in the direction she was heading to. She expected her to want to run just as she wanted to, not to head towards the danger right at the entrance of the house.
“It’s dangerous to meet her. She is dangerous, why don’t you come in and sit down till Mr. Roxwell returns?”
“I had asked her to come and I can not wait any longer. Kindly inform my husband that she is here.” She entered excitedly, seeing nothing but stars, light and a little hope. She had to find her son and Aziza might as well be the only way out.
“But ma’am…” the maid followed nonetheless just as a few guards did the same.
“Tell her to come in….” Flossie turned to the closest guard she saw and he froze immediately. He didn’t want to be the one to do that but the moment Flossie hopeful eyes fell on him and turned dark, he headed to the door immediately.
Flossie in turn turned to the sitting room and shooed everyone away like they were simply insects trying to ruin her peace. They were reluctant to leave her alone, but at the same time, they were too scared to remain close to her when the red hair came in, so they walked out not long after and she turned to the door.
Just in time, the door opened and a silhouette came to sight. Aziza stepped in, looking like a mafia boss lady, even her husband, Ethan could not pull off the strength, confidence and dark look she had when he was younger and walking the dark side of New Orleans in secret. Flossie’s heart shook a bit at the sight of her beautiful and pale face and red hair. The weapons on her were even more frightening and her cat woman look was perfectly done by her. She was an enigma of beauty and a very dangerous one at that. She heard the news every morning to know what Aziza had been up to since Damon’s disappearance and that was a very scary thing to know about the person one was about to meet. Still, she was happy and the smile on her lips didn’t falter so much. Not when the hope she had came like death itself. She would easily embrace it even if it led to her death.
“You finally came…” she entered breathlessly the moment Aziza stood a few feet away from her.
“You should have asked me to come a bit sooner if you were so impatient,” Aziza retorted, keeping her ears, nose and eyes on alert. The house seemed to have turned to a dead zone so suddenly. They were a lot of scents in the house, whisperings and footsteps trying their best to not be heard, but compared to a usual surrounding, it was quiet. It made her smile inwardly for a bit. They were doing their best to not let their presence known.
“Indeed,” Flossie’s smile faltered and her heart fell. That was the one mistake she made. Maybe, her son would be back already if she had done that a lot sooner.
“Please, have a seat?” she gestured to sit. Aziza took a while and slowly made her way to the sit as she looked around just to see if she was missing something.
“Your husband isn’t here?” She sat down.
“Well….” Flossie paused on that, wondering why she was asking about her husband.
“He is taking a shower…” she lied, just in case Aziza was planning to do something bad to her. Aziza smiled, seeing through her lie. She had clearly heard the maid talking about calling Ethan back. She knew he wasn’t home but had asked anyway for no reason at all.
“I see.” She nodded her head and watched as Flossie uncomfortably took a seat.
“Should I offer you anything?” Flossie swallowed, suddenly taking note of the sudden silence that had fallen on the house.
“Let’s not act like you like me to such an extent and just go straight to the point. Where is Damon?” Aziza bit out dryly, taking her scared countenance even when she remained so poised and graceful. Though she looked like she had aged, thinned and gone pale and depressed over the past few months, she still looked like Flossie. Only with dark eyes and eye bags that had been covered up by makeup. Flossie took a deep breath at that demand and straightened out her gown.
“I was hoping you knew…” she whispered.
“If I did, I would have burnt down that place and he would be right here, beside me…” Aziza bit out wickedly.
“Easy there…” Nyx warned, feeling her rage and misery manifested slowly from within. Aziza took a deep breath and cooled down for a bit.
“I wish I knew. But I haven’t gotten a single clue ever since he disappeared with that strange man before my eyes.” She added. Flossie’s eyes widened and she jerked.
“You met him?” she asked, knowing who the man was.
“Of course, I did. And you would have known that if you didn’t act like you knew everything.” Again, Aziza snapped, feeling rageful over and over again. When Damon had disappeared, Roxwell did nothing to reach her or investigate or anything. They acted so aware and it had really made her mad. But she stopped herself from confronting them. She had to, someone might have died if she did.
“I simply believed that he was safe, that was why?” Flossie sighed, her heart going heavy with tears and pain again.
“And now?”
“I am his mother, I am worried.” Tears came running down her eyes. Aziza took a deep breath, holding back her anger at the sight of her. No matter what it was, she had to remember that she was Damon’s mother and he wouldn’t want to see her crying to begin with. For a while, she said nothing and waited for Flossie to pull the little bit she had of herself together, before she began to talk again.
“Do you know him?”
“I mean the man that came. He is a Velaryon, the royal bloods of our realm and we all thought they were dead.”
“What do you mean by royal blood?” Flossie’s eyes widened as she blew her nose on a handkerchief.
“Your son is the heir to the throne of the supernatural empire. He is the ruler of all. And only royal members are Velaryon. They are the most powerful of all demons and probably all supernatural beings, except me of course…”
“You would know with their black eyes. Damon was believed to be the last of his kind because they were all murdered but that demon had those same eyes too. To prove that he is a royal member and he had taken the very and only true king that should exist.” she kept going. Flossie’s eyes turned wider and her mouth came ajar as realisation dawned on her.
“Do you understand now?”
