William's weary mind could not cook up anything to bamboozle Lorraine into thinking that nothing was suspicious about what she had just witnessed. Her face already proved that a lot questions were going through her mind and his brain was too roasted to think of a lie on his feet. So staying still like a statue seemed like his best bet at avoiding anything that would expose him too early.
"Daddy...what are you doing with those clothes? Where have you been? I need to tell you something."
Her indication of them needing to discuss "something" was only due to Ragus's presence.
