Chapter 23: Clay Becomes Forward Naps to me were the essence of life. Short. Long. It didn’t matter. I thought of them as a recuperating period. I favored late afternoon or early evening naps the best. A mid-morning nap wasn’t so bad either, but they rarely, if ever, occurred. When my naps did happen, they were light and usually without dreams. The afternoon, probably because it misted outside and the temperature dropped, caused me to grow tired.
