Chapter 8 I let Lucas have all the space he needed. I didn’t call. I didn’t text. I spoke to him when we were on set together, and I was jovial and friendly. Lucas was the same. But he never once gave me any indication about what he was thinking or feeling. I was an actor for f**k’s sake, but I was finding it hard to pretend. Truthfully, I was desperate to know what he wanted. It was on my mind all the time. It was a miracle I was even able to focus on my lines. Shooting was going remarkably well, though. A couple of people noticed Lucas and my new camaraderie. It garnered looks and a few comments. Mostly because the lack of animosity between us was making the workday more pleasant. No one said anything directly to me though, and I thought everyone was just going to accept it and let it
