Chapter 4
Todd woke with a start. He swallowed an inhale so quickly, it gave his throat a sharp pang. The first sensation he noticed was that the constant ache in his chest was now reduced to a dull throb. Annoying, but nothing like the pain that made him want to stop breathing.
The second thing he noticed was he wasn’t in their wagon anymore but in a room. It was a nice room with a nice bed. He was propped against a few pillows and was satisfyingly warm from soft sheets and a thick blanket pulled up to his chest. An experimental cough resulted in nothing more than clearing his throat.
Movement from the opposite side of the room drew his attention. He looked around, taking in more of his surroundings.
The room was pleasant but simple. His bed and a dresser were on one wall, a nightstan
