The UnanPart I: The Crazy Old Lady Who Lived in the Jungle Bear had never been in the jungle before. He wasn’t allowed. He wasn’t allowed out of the compound, he wasn’t allowed to climb, he wasn’t allowed to train with the other boys, he wasn’t allowed he wasn’t allowed he wasn’t allowed. But that was before the sickness, before his mother disappeared, before all of the people bled from the mouth and came for him. At least he’d found Lily. At least the old man had found him. At least they escaped. The sights and sounds of the jungle were overwhelming. The canopy, so thick and green and dark, closed in, threatened to smother him. It was completely different than the orange haze of the desert compound, the sun that burned even through layers of dust, magnified by the clear dome overhead
