Don’t Break Her Heart

Levi     “Are you crazy? That woman hates my guts,” I said at the condition she had put me in.     “She doesn’t hate you. If only you stopped being an arrogant jerk, then she would like you,” she replied and I couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. My sister was messing with me and she would probably get away with it.    “I don’t know, Eva. It’s a very bad idea,” I said, trying to convince her to change her mind.     I was not going to accept her condition. She was out of her mind if she thinks I would say yes to it. And about her boyfriend, I would have to have a good talk with him. My sister won’t need to know how the conversation went.     Our breakfast went well and we decided to go back to our dorms. I walked with her to her door and kissed her forehead.     “You know that I love you, right?” I asked, bringing a smile on her face as I stroked her cheeks.    “I love you too,” she replied, wrapping her arms around my waist and we were both lost in a sweet embrace. She was everything to me and it was my job to take care of her, not make her feel bad.     As soon as she walked in, Sicily stood by the door with her arms folded on her chest.    “Did you apologize to her?” she asked with her eyebrows raised, waiting for an answer. I took a deep breath with my hands in my pockets.    “I did, now if you’ll excuse me, I have something to deal with,” I replied, walking away from her, before any of my conversation with my sister about asking her out blurted out of my mouth. I walked into my room and Johnny was sitting on his bed, playing video games.     As I looked at him, I couldn’t help but let my anger out. He was probably taking advantage of my sister, and I was not going to rest until he told me what his intentions were with her. I slapped the controller from his hands and grabbed him by the shirt before I punched him on the face.    “What the hell is wrong with you?” he said, getting up from the floor while wiping the blood off the corner of his mouth.    “When were you planning on telling me you were dating my sister? Are you taking advantage of her?” I asked, angrily. He fixed his shirt and before I knew it, his fist was on my own face.     “I was planning on telling you, but she begged me not to and as for taking advantage of her, I would never dare do it. She’s special to me and I wouldn’t hurt her. I love your sister and I have since high school. Don’t come comparing me to yourself!” he shouted.     I looked at him, touching my face to see if I was bleeding, but luckily it might just be a small bruise.     “She was scared of how you would react, so I did what she wanted me to. I kept it to myself until she was ready to tell you.”    I stood up from my bed and looked at him straight into his eyes, trying to look for any lies that might be coming from his mouth. But I knew him very well, he was telling the truth.    “You better not play with her feelings and her heart. She’s my treasure and if you ever disrespect her in any way, I swear I’ll cut your balls off.”    “I promise I won’t. We haven’t gone further than a kiss, I swear,” he said, looking around. I took a towel I had hanging on my bed and tossed it at him so he could wipe the blood off his lips while I sat on my bed and studied him intently.     “That aside, promise me you will never hurt her and if you stop loving her, please don’t you dare cheat on her,” I said, bringing his eyes on me as he nodded.    “I promise I would do my best to make her happy and to love her. It makes me glad that you approve of this.”    “I didn’t say I approve of it just yet. You have to prove yourself before I even think of accepting you as her boyfriend.”       He stood up and tossed the towel back to my bed.     “I have nothing to prove to you, Levi. If anything, it’s her who I have to prove myself to,” he mentioned before walking out of the room. I blew out a deep breath and just sat there, biting my bottom lip.     He’s my best friend and even though it upset me that he’s dating my sister, it was not a thing worth fighting over for, or losing his friendship or her admiration.     All I could do was call Alexis and have her spend some time with me. Luckily, she was available and in no time she was at my door.     “Hello, handsome. Did you need me?” she asked and I pulled her against my chest. I kissed her senseless, trying to let all my anger and frustration out.     My sister suggesting I date the girl that hates me and that I don’t like, and then confessing to me she’s dating my best friend. Not to mention the fist fight we just had. It all came down on me and I needed to release myself.     “What’s wrong with you?” she asked as she pulled away from me, her hand was on my chest trying to stop me from going any further.     “I’m just angry, okay? I need to relieve myself,” I said, and she looked at me in disbelief while she scoffed.    “Do you think I’m just someone you can get your frustrations out with? You’re very well mistaken if you think that’s going to happen. As much as I enjoyed those heated moments with you, this is not the time for that. I hope you can understand that and good luck. Maybe you can give yourself some love and care.”    She walked out, slamming the door shut and here I was, with a bruised cheek and a busted ego.
