Riley's body stiffened when she heard the sound of the soles of Logan's shoes hitting the marble floor loudly. He must have been walking across the hall to the dining room, Riley thought. Her feelings were filled with vigilance and fear. The pancakes and bacon in front of her became unappealing. She lost her appetite at the thought of coming face to face with Logan.
