Chapter 5 Night has fallen when I get home. I stayed late at work, thoroughly cleaning the apothecary. Not that my stand-in hadn’t done her job, but I needed time to think. And when Margot finally kicked me out and told me to “go home already,” I postponed obeying her orders by taking a walk around the neighborhood before I jumped into the car and drove home. The house is dark when I pull into the garage, and as I sit in the car, chewing on my lower lip and listening to the engine making cooling, clicking-sounds, I consider for a moment that this morning was a weird dream. That I imagined finding an unknown guy in my bedroom and watched him transform into my bunny friend. But no. My imagination isn’t vivid enough for me to come up with something that wild. And now the house seems empty
