I wanted to beat the s**t out of him, but whatever he did to me, forcing me to submit, made me cautious.
He stayed with me yesterday, not leaving my side, explaining everything about this cult, no pack.
No idea what kind of voodoo he had going on, but I was careful with every move I made, dreading he was right because I could already feel it.
The drugs I had taken over the years were fading, leaving my system completely. All these needs surfaced, making my head trickle.
“I have meetings all morning. If you promise to be a good girl, you can wander around the pack.”
Disgust rushed through me, but beneath it, the longing for his touch grew. I clenched my fist, trying to keep a hold on myself, fearing I might do something I thought I had overcome.
“I will be good,” I said weakly, hating the sound of my voice.
He moved closer, his fingers hooked under my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze up close. “I’m not the bad guy here, just give me a chance.”
My brows furrowed together, not knowing how to react. This man had some serious problems. One moment he was kind and caring, and the next, it seemed as if he wanted to kill me, hurt me, and f**k me at the same time.
“I will,” I whispered, desperately wanting to say something else, but the words wouldn’t form, as if something was stopping me.
Was this the mate bond he was speaking of? This need to have his approval, his touch, his love, even though he was an ass?
He sighed, inching closer until his lips pressed on my forehead. A warmth spread through my body, and I clenched my thighs, hating the pooling wetness that started to form.
I knew one thing for sure, I hated this mate bond thing.
“Don’t cross the border,” he warned, his gaze darkened when he met mine again. “The Alpha will feel it, and he is not someone you want to mess with.”
I weakly nodded while my tongue moved over my lips. His eyes shifted, and he smirked.
“You want my lips on yours?” he asked.
I gulped, inhaling sharply, wanting to say no.
“Beg,” he whispered, inching closer, letting his breath move over my wettened lips.
My body screamed for more, tension building up, ready to be taken in any way he wanted, all to feel that high.
“No,” I managed to speak.
He moved back, out of reach, his smile never faltering. “I will wait.”
He turned, leaving me behind without a second glance.
I closed my eyes, trying to control my needy whimpering lady part. I brushed my thighs against each other, creating some friction, but I had to get out of here because I knew if I stayed, I would do one of two things.
I would wake the monster that lay beneath my skin, waiting to get out, or there would be a new scar on my thigh.
Taking a deep breath and opening my eyes, I rushed to my bag, scampering through it. I smiled in victory when I noticed Liam didn’t check the hidden department at the bottom.
He might have taken me, my phone, and the drugs that kept me sane, but he didn’t take my pretty knuckle duster I got from William.
I quickly put it in my pocket, grabbed my jacket, and put on my sneakers, ready to head out and come up with an escape plan. Liam told me this pack was in the middle of nowhere, and even if I tried to run, he would always find me.
I didn’t know why, but I believed him. The way his eyes changed when he said it, like a promise, and besides that, sometimes he seemed to get my body better than I did. Maybe that was also part of the mate bond.
I peeked outside, wondering if he was joking or not.
Cautiously taking my step, scanning around. In the distance, some men were chatting, laughing, like I wasn’t kidnapped by Liam, kept here against my will.
However, what surprised me more were the women passing me, giving me a glance as if I was beneath them.
“Bitches,” I mumbled under my breath, remembering what Liam told me about their wolf hearing.
I glanced over my shoulder, meeting the angered gaze of one of them, I smirked and moved around the corner, out of sight.
I stifled my laughter and jogged further away from the cottage, heading towards the forest.
-Liam POV-
I didn’t mean to be like this, but my patience was almost nonexistent. I didn’t think it would be this hard having a human mate.
I did want to feel how it was to mate with her, but she was putting up a fight. Even though I could smell her arousal when I touched her, she kept pushing me away, fighting this bond between us.
Sighing, I remembered when I reached out to the Alpha, asking permission to reject her. He only laughed and said no and never to bring it up again. Saying I was blessed and all that nonsense.
He had lost his mate years ago in some war before I joined this pack. I had never worked with him closely and wasn’t allowed in the pack meeting until I got the gamma position a couple of months ago.
All I knew was: don’t get on his wrong side. His wolf was one hard to control bastard.
And I feared my human mate would screw everything up between the Alpha and me. She doesn’t know the rules of a pack, still thinking we were some cult.
I wasn’t even sure if she could carry a pup. She was probably too weak for it. And besides all that, why did she have to be a filthy stripper?
I shivered, thinking about everyone that f****d her. It wasn’t that common to be touched before you found your mate. At least not for the she-wolves. And I was blessed with one that spread her legs for money.
My wolf, Cedric, took over the moment he got a whiff of her scent. He lured her closer, but when I took over, she fought me.
“She likes me better,” Cedric laughed.
I grunted and almost jumped out of my seat when the Alpha slammed his fist on the table.
“Can you focus,” he sneered.
“Yes, Alpha,” I quickly said, holding his gaze, not wanting to show any fear.
A growl rumbled. “How is it going with your mate?”
“Difficult,” I said honestly, knowing he could probably see if I lied.
His brows furrowed together, and he signaled for me to continue.
“She fights the bond. It works better with Cedric in charge, but with me, she fights the bond.”
Beta Conner laughed, shaking his head. “She’s human, the bond works differently for her. You shouldn’t rely on only the bond.”
I nodded, but what else did I have? There was only this bond between us that put us together. Otherwise, I would never have chosen a weak human as my mate.
“She is out today, as you suggested,” I said.
“You can’t keep her as your prisoner. We already let it pass that you took her from her life.” His jaw clenched, and his eyes showed the battle with his wolf.
“What else was I supposed to do when I saw that other w—” I whimpered, the Alpha’s aura lashing out. Gritting my teeth, I tried to fight it as long as possible, not wanting to show any weakness, but eventually, we all bared our necks, and he rose to his feet.
“I’m going to let my wolf out. Conner, you take over,” he growled, annoyance written on his face before he stormed out.
Connor sighed. “I have talked to him, but you know you can’t reject her. He won’t accept it, and you will lose your title.”
“I know,” I sighed, leaning back. “She will go into heat, I can already sense it rising.”
He shook his head. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but don’t force her.”
“I won’t, in heat—”
“Liam, she has to want you without the heat forcing her,” he warned, gaze darkening.
“Yes, beta,” I said, with my head held high, knowing there was no way he could find out.
I was thrown out of the packhouse because they didn’t want an unmarked woman inside. However, after her heat, she will wear my mark, and I could return to the packhouse. I had worked too damn hard to be tossed away.
He nodded, resuming the meeting, and I held my focus, not daring to let my mind wander off again.
