Working Together

Erin regretted the words she just blurted. It was clearly out of line and he must be burdened by it. "I was up all night thinking of you." She uttered and cringed of her own words, how much more it to him. Xander went out of her room quietly, it should have been better if he says something about it rather than having someone else in his post the next morning. She was tempted to call him and explain, but she was scared of doing so. Erin met Angel briefly and she was immediately intimated by how she gave her a head to toe look. It was a quick meeting, and she decided to paint so that she can avoid her at all costs. It has been two days, and she was wondering if Angel will be officially in charge of her security, she could ask her later, or she can ask her father. She decided the latter as she is not comfortable with Angel. It is about time to talk with her father as well. A knock on the door snatched her back to reality. "Come in. Melinda, I told you not to knock..." She stopped because it was not her housekeeper and she immediately feels how her face tightened in the effect of the emotion she had inside. Erin just stared at Xander. "Just continue thinking of me." He said and she immediately blushed because he was clearly teasing her. "Oh, please. Don't tease me like, I can explain." She must revive her dignity from him. "I'm not teasing you. I'm giving you my consent." He said and walked closer to where she was at. "I'm not asking for consent!" She stood up and walked backward. Erin was embarrassed now that Xander brought up the topic. She realized it was better then that he was away, she can deal with Angel if it means not to have an awkward situation with Xander. "Where are you for the last two days?" She asked diverting the topic. Xander halted and she sighed of the temporary relief. "Urgent things came up that needs me in person. I'm sorry if you think I avoided you after that night." Xander was looking at her and Erin realized that she cannot avoid the topic forever. She started it, so she must be the one to end it. "I was up all night thinking of you... and my father. Why did he hire you and why is Will acting that way? There must be going on that I should know about." She said and Xander massaged his temple. Erin went guilty of the sight, but it's part of the truth. She might feel something about him, but it's not right, to begin with. "I'm sorry, Xander. I didn't mean it that way..." Her words were cut short when the door burst opened. It was Melinda. "Erin, can we talk for a while?" She was clearly nervous seeing how her hands clamped together. "What is the matter, Mel?" "It's Will." Erin's heart pounded. What did Will do this time? "Will is harassing me because of a document I don't know about. He kept on calling me and even went to our home earlier just to ask me to steal it from you." Melinda confided. "Whatever it is, I don't think I can continue to work here." She added with a worried look. Erin walked towards her housekeeper. "I'm sorry Mel. I did not expect Will will do that to you!" She held her hands to comfort her. Melinda is her housekeeper the moment they live in the villa and Erin can't believe Will treated her that way. "I'll take care of it, Mel. You don't have to report from now on in the villa. Don't worry it's just temporary while we sort things out, okay?" Melinda nodded and went out of the room. Erin was left contemplating what to do with Will after what Melinda had told her. She fished out her phone to call her husband, but Xander snatched the phone away from her. "I don't think it's a good idea to call him." He said. "Then tell me what to do? You seemed to know better than me!" She was clearly irritated towards Xander. He was controlling her, and he seemed not aware of his action. "I already told you that this matter is not simple, but dangerous." He said coldly while staring at her. It might be true and lying to Will that she has the documents already starting a complication. "Then, I will tell him the truth that I don't have the documents he was looking for." "Not yet." Xander's reply confused her. "I don't understand! You were against the last time I lied about having it, and now, telling it simply to Will that I don't have it is not a good idea as well!" "I told you to just trust me." "No, I cannot trust you when you are not telling me things!" Erin is now furious. They are clearly keeping her in the dark when she is clearly involved in the matter. She did not realize Xander was already in front of her towering over her. His hands were on her shoulders and looked at her in the eyes. "This is not a simple matter, Erin. Just give me enough time and I will tell you." He said as if talking to her soul deep down. His eyes were black now that she has enough time to stare at it. "How long would that be?" She asked as if she was hypnotized following his request. "Just a week would do." "What will I do while waiting for it, huh?" Her left brow arched at that. "Just do your normal routine." He said and eyed her lips on the process. "What if I want to do other things?" She asked and started to list the things she wanted to do in her mind. "Why not? Just make sure I'm always by your side." He murmured. "Hmm..." She simply said because their distance finally sinks into her. "I don't think I can continue talking to you in this manner." She whispered.
