CHAPTER 5

2030 Words
Raina... she was... She was there. Ofcourse she was supposed to be there. She had locked her in. Marlyn was disappointed as her shoulders slumped down with a tired sigh. She knew Raina would have escaped if she wanted to. Instead she just stood there staring at them. Raina's eyes moved to the man beside Marlyn as her lips moved but he cut her off before she could even say a word. "You and your husband said you lived alone. Turns out you don't." He turned to Raina, "Who are you?" Marlyn paused at his question. Why was he asking who she was when he already knew? Or... were they really warriors of the pack and not imposters as they had thought? Oh no! Raina looked at Marlyn with questions swamped in her eyes. Who was this man and why was he in the house? Then she accessed him. He was in the warrior's attire. Was... was the Alpha here to get her? So fast? How did he know where she lived? She had a feeling something was coming but not this fast. "I asked you a question miss. Who are you?" He repeated with a scowl. "She is my niece." Marlyn answered instead, her pulse slowly coming down as it now seemed that their suspicion was wrong. If he was out to kill them or Raina, he'd have done it the moment she opened the door. "And why did you lie and had her locked in?" Raina tried to speak again but was cut off, "We didn't... I didn't know you were-" "Save it for the Council." Raina wasn't given the chance to speak as they were all taken to the Elders' Council and the Alpha. *** They arrived at the Council's meeting hall. People were trooping in and out for some reasons. Nobody told her anything on the way here. They had all been silent till they got here. She glanced around as she had never been before the Council or where their meetings are usually being held. It wasn't so big but it was big enough to contain a certain amount of people. There was a big silver chair at the end of the hall. It was covered in wolf like fur indicating it belonged to the Alpha. She pictured him sitting on it. It was picture perfect. Then she saw him. He was a few feet away from the chair. He was talking to two men that were almost the same build as he was. She felt a tingle in her spine as she watched him speak, her eyes squinting as she tried to focus on his lips, like she could feel them with her eyes. His hair was messy again. She began to think he intentionally leaves it that way to woo ladies. If so, he was doing a great job. She could see the ladies that flocked around eyeing him like he was some candy they had always wanted. The scarred warrior went over to him gaining his attention as he said a few words before he turned to see who he was talking about. His grey eyes landed on her first and then his eyes went slightly wide as he recognized her. He turned his whole body towards her direction as he listened to the warrior speak. It didn't look like he was paying attention anyways. His lips moved at a point but then he paused, his expression turning into a scowl. He was paying attention. He turned to him and spoke as he suspected she would read his lips. The scarred man nodded and came back to them, "Follow me." He said. To where? Where were they taking them to? She hesitantly followed him with her aunt and uncle still trailing behind. She looked back at the Alpha before she could lose sight of him. He was looking at her. His eyes were saying a lot. A lot that she couldn't understand. ***** They had gone but Lucas was still staring at the door. The information Seth came to give to him wasn't very pleasant to his hearing. Seth and Rio had gone round so they wouldn't miss anything and they saw their cabin home at the outskirts. Seth told him the couple said they lived alone but were acting suspicious so they had insisted on going in and checked a room, Raina was in that room. They had locked her in. That line got his face into a scowl. A scowl that was still on even after they had gone. He ordered Seth to lock the couple up and secretly take her to his quarters. Seth didn't look surprised or shocked at his last order. He just nodded and went back to them. Seth was one of his best warriors. An observant and quick-witted warrior. "Is she The One?" A mischievous voice interrupted his thoughts. Leo. Leo and Klaus had been giving him the feedbacks he had been asking for and wasn't looking pleased as he kept saying, "Keep counting." Not until Seth walked up to them, saying he had an important issue to inform Lucas. This alone piqued his interest, then he turned his head and paused before turning his whole body in that direction. There was a girl, a man and a woman standing at the entrance of the hall with Rio behind them. It looked like they were her parents. They noticed Lucas never looked away from that direction even after they left. And he had a scowl on his face. Nothing was adding up. Leo summoned 'courage' to ask if she was 'The One' only to get a death glare from Lucas. Klaus watched them both. "What? You've been staring in that direction for ages now. She has to be the one." Leo concluded but paused, "...but you looked angry seeing her-" "Are you that slow that you can't catch up? Think." Klaus cut him off, speaking for the first time since Seth approached them. "He's angry because they locked her up." Lucas exhaled deeply and left without saying a word. Klaus looked at Leo with eyes that said, 'Stupid!' But said nothing and walked away. Klaus wasn't the type to blurt out profanities. He never cursed. Not in anyone's hearing. Leo rolled his eyes at Klaus walking away, "Always so serious!" He muttered with a little dramatic shake of his hands and head before following after him. >>>>> Later on, Lucas got to his quarters and rushed in. He went straight to his study as he had asked Seth to keep her there. Seth stood outside the door of the study, keeping guard. Lucas nodded at him and gave a slight bow and left. He opened the door like it was a door to a room he'd never been in before. Slowly. He shut it quietly and walked in. It felt strange. He felt strange. She was in this room. That strange girl that keeps piquing his interest and making his wolf yearn for her. She was sitting on his table, her back facing him. She had something in her hand - must be a book. He was about to call out to her but paused and stopped. He went up behind her, "We meet again little one." She jolted up, flinging the book in the air. She was visibly shocked, her right hand clenching her chest as she breathed fast, her eyes wide like saucers but the first thing she could say was, "I am no little one!" Lucas looked pretty much amused by her reaction. It hadn't registered that she was talking to the Alpha or maybe she didn't care. That was the amusing part. But her next words dissolved the small smile and sparkle in his eyes. "Release my Aunt and Uncle!" He stared at her with undecipherable eyes. She couldn't tell what was going on in his head. That wasn't the subject matter anyways, she just wanted her Aunt and Uncle free. >>>> "Release them. They didn't lock me in. It's all a misunderstanding!" She continued voicing out her annoyance. "Seth has never been wrong." Lucas finally spoke calmly, his eyes not leaving hers. She stared back, breathing heavily, "There's always a first time for everything." "I'll take it to the Council. I can't make a decision without them." "Yes, you can. You're the Alpha for goddess's sake! It's a minor matter you can handle solely." "I refuse to." "Why?" 'Because it's a matter concerning my mate.' He said in his head. "I asked why?!" She was overly annoyed. Very pissed. If someone overheard her speaking to him in this manner, it'd be reported to the Council and they'd take actions even before they could find out that she was his mate. Even if they did, it might not even count. So he stayed quiet and observed her facial expression. Anger. It made her brows twitch slightly and it looked like invisible puffs of air were coming out of her nose. Her hair was packed in a rough ponytail. She must have not had the chance to let it down because of what happened. "So it is really going to the Council? Mn. Fine." She asked and replied herself, not giving him a chance to speak. She gave up? She didn't look like one to back down from a fight. He was a bit disappointed. "I want to go see them." "You can't." She stared at Lucas hard but then paused. Something clicked in her and she withdrew her eyes. She brought them back to her eye level, now they were staring at his chest. "Okay." She said quietly. He was about to say something but was interrupted by the forceful opening of the door making them both look in its direction. There stood a beautifully made woman. She had a delicate face but a powerful aura. Her amber eyes shone like fire stones even in the day, you would wonder how it would be at night. Her features, they were like that of Lucas. Freezing and burning at the same time, yet glorious. She had the aura of a Luna. Who is she? Her amber eyes landed on Lucas first, "Hey, Lucas-" Then her eyes shifted to the being standing next to him - being her. Her bright eyes immediately lost it's light as she looked at her. If looks could really kill... What did she do now? "Who are you?" She asked venomously. "I- I..." Raina stuttered but stopped when she felt an aura so familiar. The one that almost got her choked up that night. Where was this- The Alpha. Lucas. Why was he?- Breathe- Can't... brea-
