Chapter 8

Derek's POV As I gazed upon the mark on my body, a sinking realization took hold of me. This mark could only mean one thing: this child before me was truly mine. The weight of the truth threatened to crush my heart, knowing that I had almost brought harm upon my own flesh and blood. The thought sickened me to the core, realizing that my own child had witnessed my violent nature. Anger welled up inside me, and I couldn't help but direct it towards Bella. "This is what you wanted, isn't it?" I exclaimed, my voice seething with rage. "You wanted our child to see me as a monster." "What the actual f**k, Derek?" Bella's voice lashed back at me, filled with a mix of disbelief and anger. "I never wanted this. I shared my pregnancy with you, brimming with happiness and excitement. But you lashed out at me. Yes, I was ready to reveal my secret, to tell you everything because I knew I wasn't being fair to you," she added, her tone now tinged with sadness. The realization hit me like a tidal wave. Everything was now in ruins. I had been waiting to exact my revenge upon Bella, but now this child stood in the way. This child, with my blood flowing through their veins, was meant to be my successor. But it could never be. A human could never become an Alpha. "You need to get rid of this child," I said, my voice surprisingly calm, though confusion filled Bella's face. "What do you mean by that? This is your child," she replied, her voice trembling. "That's because I can't have a child with a mere human!" I growled, causing fear to flicker across Bella's eyes as she instinctively clutched our son tighter. "Mom, I don't like this person," our child cried out, his voice heavy with fear. "I want to get out of here. He's really bad," he pleaded, his terror palpable. "What is wrong with you, Derek? I just told you that he is your son, and now you want me to get rid of our child?" Bella's disbelief echoed in her words. "Listen to me, Bella," I seethed, my anger overwhelming my senses. I grabbed her by the neck, ignoring the desperate attempts of our son to free his mother from my grip. In his desperation, he bit me, causing me to yell in pain, and finally, I released Bella. "How dare you!" My fury burned bright, and I was ready to unleash my anger on our son, but something inside me halted my actions. "I see that no matter what I do or say, you aren't ready to let us go," Bella gasped, struggling to catch her breath as she clung onto our child. "Just kill the both of us and get it over with!" she shouted defiantly. "I will kill you and your child," I sneered, my smile filled with malevolence. "That way, I can get rid of you and, ultimately, my child," I continued, my voice dripping with sinister intentions. Bella chuckled in disbelief, challenging my hollow threats. "Do whatever you want," she declared with unwavering resolve, her eyes daring me to act upon my dark desires. At that moment, I realised I couldn't kill them. This child was mine, and the thought of extinguishing their life was inconceivable. "Leave with your child," I finally spoke, my voice laced with a mixture of defeat and resignation. "Get away from this world." "This is the worst possible scenario. They cannot remain in this world. Allowing them to stay will only bring ruin upon everything I have worked for. My image in the werewolf clan will be at stake because a union between a human and a wolf is forbidden. It is a law, a rule, and I have vehemently expressed my hatred for humans. This will be nothing but a mockery of me once the truth is revealed." Bella, in a tired and defeated tone, responds, "As I said before, have it your way and kill us. I see no point in trying to escape anymore. I have accepted that there will be no change in your decision." "I want you to leave this city, ensuring that I can never find you, and no one must ever discover that this child is mine," I say, surprising even myself. I had been prepared to spare their lives and not follow through with such extreme measures. Bella, shocked, asks, "Why are you changing your mind?" "Don't act oblivious to the rules of the werewolf clan. They were established by my father, and I intend to uphold them," I reply, glaring at her. "You should be well aware of all this, considering you managed to exist in our world for a year without being caught." "We will leave, then," she says, brushing off my earlier words. "I will ensure we never cross paths again." Her statement elicits mixed emotions within me. "If we ever cross paths again, I will kill you and end your existence," I threaten, though she seems unfazed. "As for the child, I can never accept him as my son. I don't care if my blood runs through his veins. All I care about is the fact that he carries the blood of a disgusting creature like yourself," I say, anger seeping into my words. "No matter what you say or do, it doesn't change the fact that he is your son," she calmly replies, a faint smile gracing her face. "We will never cross paths again," she declares. "Now leave before I reconsider and decide to follow through on killing you," I sneer, a mixture of anger and regret swirling within me. "One last thing that piques my curiosity: to safeguard your status, you'll need to get married," she remarks. "I am going to get married," I state with a smile, fueling her jealousy. "Who are you marrying?" she inquires. "Emily!"
