Bella's POV
The air was thick with tension as Zachary's concerned yet slightly annoyed voice filled the room. "What is the matter, Bella? Did that monster do anything to you?" he asked, his tone laced with worry.
I stumbled over my words, finding it difficult to articulate my thoughts. "No, no, it's nothing," I stammered, attempting to dismiss the situation. "I'm just glad you're fine," I said, forcing a smile in an attempt to change the mood.
Zachary's suspicion lingered as he spoke, his voice tinged with a hint of distrust. "There's something wrong, Bella, and you're not telling me," he insisted, his eyes searching mine for answers.
My concern for his safety intensified. "You're not supposed to be here, Zachary. It's not safe for you," I said, my voice filled with genuine worry.
