Over a week had passed since I started staying at Zachary's place, and I couldn't help but notice a slight distance between us. I understood why he might feel that way—I had made the wrong choices by choosing Derek over my own family. Reflecting on my actions, I found it amusing how I had believed I meant everything to Derek. Laughing at myself, I realized the gravity of my mistakes.
