After Ocean is calm, I hand her back to Halley and face Christian with a sad face.
He nods once and puts his half empty glass on a passing drink tray before slipping his arm
around my waist.
"I feel we've all had enough interaction for one night. It was nice to see you," Christian says as
we step out of the circle.
"Christian! It's rude to let so early!"
My boyfriend scowls.
"It's rude to speak ill of my girlfriend. Especially when she's right next to you."
His mother sighs as though she done nothing wrong.
"Fine. We're holding a charity event here next Friday and I expect you to come," she says
sternly.
"If you can learn to control your tongue and respect Vasilisa in only a week's time then I will
consider it."
With the final snap at his mother, he leads me out of the crowded house and chirps short
goodbye's to people we pass.
"That was a disaster," I say stepping outside into the cold night air.
Christian holds me close against him for warmth while we walk quickly to the car.
"I apologise again Lisa. I keep thinking her attitude will turn around. It's foolish of me to do so,"
he repremands himself.
I frown as he opens the car door for me.
"I know how important it is for you to keep in touch with your family weather you like them or
not. You aren't foolish for being kind."
Christian smiles weakly and kisses me fondly.
Things might not have gone well, but I made Ocean laugh tonight and progress is progress.

"Look what came in the mail," Christian says holding up a thick stack of paper.
I purse my lips at how familiar it is.
"The script," I state unenthusiastically. This is really happening I guess. I'm going to be the lead
actress despite never acting before.
"Sam says we need to get a bit of a grip on the scripts, but not to read each other's because he
wants our genuine reactions for certain scenes. We're only supposed to practice together the
highlighted parts."
I nod and take the script with my name on it. Flipping through, there is green highlighter a bit
passed halfway through and I smile up at Christian who grins smugly.
"You're the best boyfriend ever," I compliment.
"I know."
I have a deep rotted hatred for yellow highlighter, but it's the most popular and the one everyone
else seems to use. I knew right upon sight of the bright green encasing around the printed words
that my boyfriend had a word in with the director Cam and made sure it wasn't yellow.
It's the little things.
"Okay... How about act twenty-two, scene four?"
I turn to the right page and scan over it quickly before nodding.
"Who are you?" I ask with alarm and confusion.
"Scarlett Chadick?" He counters with a smouldering look and a deep voice.
I take a few steps back as suggested in the script and look around for an escape route.
"Ben Cartelle. Ring a bell?"
My eyes widen.
"Did he send you?"
Christian smiles smugly.
"He hired me to find you. The man was certain you were kidnapped or in trouble. It looks to me
like you ran away."
"Well you can report back that I'm fine. Tell him to leave me alone and move on. If you'll excuse
me," I say trying to walk past him.
"Not so fast."
He turns me around so quickly that I'm pressed against the wall. His face is only a few inches
away and his deep breaths brush against me gently.
His eyes drift to my lips for a moment before searching my eyes again.
"I'm afraid I can't let you leave. I've already put in the call. Ben's on his way and my job's not
done until he says it is."
"What do you say I give you a new job until he gets here," I tease going off script.
Christian looks a bit confused, scanning his paper quickly before I continue.
"I mean, I haven't been very well behaved," I say egging him to catch on.
Realization strikes him as he smiles down at me.
"Oh? Do you need to be punished?"
I drop my script on the ground and wrap my arms around him before lifting my legs up too and
making him support my weight.
"You tell me," I whisper against his lips.
Not another moment passes before I hear his script drop too and his lips crash themselves against
mine hungrily.
He forces his tongue through my lips quickly and devoures my mouth ravenously.
I return his passion with equal fervor and allow him to carry me up the stairs to continue our
activities.
Sure, we may have dropped out in the middle of a scene, but I read the last part of the script too
and I saw a s*x scene with his character.
Technically, we're still practicing.
