As dusk began to turn into night, we all lined up and got our candles ready. They were the fake kind with light bulbs, so there wasn’t any chance of them burning out before we were done. I stood along with the other children behind the ones playing Mary and Joseph. I will admit that I kind of felt out of place, but the children didn’t seem to mind. They gave me clear instructions on what we were supposed to do, and even told me that if I did really well, there would be an extra treat for me when we finished.
