9 The wind whipped at my hair and the bright sun baked my cheeks as we made our way to the far end of Xander's realm. I was huddled beneath a fine fur coat with Xander's arms beneath that. I leaned to my left and glanced down at the ground that lay some two hundred feet below us. We were close to the foot of the Heavy Mountains so that the land was peppered with discarded boulders and piles of rubble. Tall, thick forests of pine trees partially hid the rocks, but couldn't hide the many small lakes and ponds that were fed by the tiny, meandering streams that hailed from the mountains. Wild deer drank at the edge of the waters while rabbits, seeing our shadows as we flew over, darted into their rocky burrows.
