I should be fuming right now, but instead I’m conflicted. “Our mate is fine.” Grace groaned, drooling at the sight of Chris. She was also fully focused on our mate and over the travesty of a trial earlier. “Understatement.” He looked so intense as he argued with the Beta across the room near the buffet. So hot and full of passion.
It was dinner time and he insisted on fixing me a plate. That’s when the Beta showed up and distracted him from preparing my meal. I wondered what Beta Dev’s problem was. Did it have to do with me? Was it because of his new brother-in-law and the fact that he tried to kill me? Maybe he felt like Chris did the wrong thing defending me.
