The people scatter like ants zooming pass each other in seek of their destination yet, she stands out. I watch her from the school garden a good distance away, aware that she can't see me but undoubtedly feels me staring. My back faces the tree trunk I'm currently standing in front of, without touching. My hands fisted in my pants pockets while I stand watching her as she walks away from the school doors. Her face is drawn in an un-masked swirl of hurt and sadness, but still so fierce. “My little vixen” I whisper. Her chin lifts up into my direction and I know she feels my presence. Dainy always has.
