Drunken mistake!

1092 Words
Julian's pov A strong morning ray brushed through my face, and I opened my eyes only to find myself in a comfy bed, naked next to the off-limits man. Kyren Maddox, my brother's best friend. He was asleep, relaxed, and calm. My feet got out of bed and rushed to the washroom. The hot shower softly poured over my stark body and the sudden reality hit my head even harder. “What the hell just happened last night?” My lips murmured in stress. I remember that I went to Kyren’s apartment to look for my brother since both of them weren't picking up my calls and mom wanted my brother home for some urgent business. Kyren said my brother went on a date. I was about to leave but then unexpected rain interrupted my plans. Kyren cooked for me and we had a few drinks together. Miami and unexpected rains! Usually, he would never allow me to drink, but last night, I was shivering pretty badly, and to warm me up, he offered whiskey. He was as protective as my brother. After that, my memories were all blurry, but the entire situation could only point to one simple thing…we slept with each other! This was wrong in so many ways, yet felt right in my heart. I stepped out of the shower, got dressed, and gushed out of his apartment while he was asleep. Upon reaching the parking area, my back leaned against one of the cars and a breath slipped free of my lips. “What did you do, Julian?” “How could you sleep with your brother's best friend?” I have been secretly in love with Kyren Maddox for years but he never treated me more than a sister. He would act like my brother all the time and it was pretty annoying. I would steal glances from him; I would keep his pictures in my bedroom, I would wait for him all the time, and I would sometimes even follow him. My love for him was beyond words. Since he was my brother's best friend, and that too, six years older than me, I never dared to cross the line between us. My timid heart was afraid of his rejection. But what happened last night changed my perspective towards our relationship. Maybe Kyren Maddox felt the same about me all these years but was afraid to say anything because of my brother. *Cell phone ringing I took out my phone from my bag and Kyren's name flashed before my eyes on the phone screen. “Why is he calling?” My lips sucked in a deep breath. “Hello?” “Uhm…When did you leave?” His sleepy voice asked. “Half an hour ago.” My lips lied. I was still in his parking area like some creep trying to settle my thoughts. If anyone had seen me like that…they would have called the cops right away. “I got too drunk!” He mumbled in his deep voice. “What exactly happened last night?” His curiosity inquired. The back of my hair arose and adrenaline rushed down my stream. It would be awkward to say we slept with each other. My mouth couldn't bring those words! *Sigh “Uhm…you just fell asleep in your room.” It was a safe choice, especially when my thoughts were all over the place. “Okay…but don't tell your brother that you spent the night at my apartment. He's a lunatic, might take it another way even though it was all because of rain.” “Don't worry about it.” My soft voice assured him. “Then…get home safe, little one!” He ended the call. I rolled my lower lip in disappointment. “So he doesn't remember anything!” *** Later in the evening… Noah stepped into my room without permission, as usual, and perched on my bed, holding his basketball in his hands. “What is it?” My brows furrowed. “Mom said you weren't home last night.” His protective brother mode was on. “Oh! Please!” My eyes rolled at him. “Weren't you the one missing?” I flipped back at him. He chuckled. “Your brother had a romantic date with the hottest girl in the town.” The corner of his mouth curved. “She must be out of her head to go on a date with someone like you.” My words ridiculed his arrogance. “Your brother is pretty popular!” He winked. His eyes darkened again. “Now tell me honestly…where were you?” His suspicion was back. My lips sighed. “I went to look for you at Kyren's apartment but you weren't there…then I went to my school friend’s house and had a nice sleepover.” “Also, I informed Mom!” He patted my head. “Yeah, but don't stay out late, it's dangerous.” His gaze softened as he said the words. He got up from bed and walked over to the door, yet my voice stopped him. “Brother” “Is it okay to confess your feelings even if you are not sure what the other person feels about you?” “It's a thousand times better to confess your feelings than regret it later.” He suggested. My head nodded to his words, trying to understand the meaning. “JULIAN!” He groaned. My eyes were startled. “You're not allowed to have a boyfriend!” His finger pointed at me. “Shut up! Leave my room!” My voice growled. He opened the door and stepped out. “NO BOYFRIEND!” His voice shouted the same thing again. “YOU'RE ANNOYING!” I shouted back. As soon as he closed the door, my head rested on a pillow and Kyren's face appeared in my memory. “Should I just confess my feelings?” It's been years my heart was holding onto the secret love of mine but maybe things might turn out for the best. Once he accepts my proposal…I will tell him the truth about last night. “Be brave for once, Julian!” My lips sucked in a breath and I sent a text to Kyren asking him to meet me tomorrow outside the amusement park. A few seconds later, his reply popped up on my phone screen… “Okay, sure!” I kicked my legs in the air and rolled myself in a warm blanket. “This is your chance, Julian.”
