A grown woman

Julian's pov He stood in front of me but his eyes were focused on Noah's face. They hugged each other and then Noah cussed him for twenty minutes. I couldn't help but smile at Noah. He was pretty childish even though he was the most popular basketball player and the pride of our Miami. “How have you been, little one?” His deep voice asked and my gaze shifted to his face from Noah's childishness. His eyes looked into mine and my heart clenched with a sudden tightness. It was a very different kind of feeling…not hate and not love either. “Good.” I controlled my wind of emotions and answered. “You have grown so much.” He smiled. My lips smiled back and Noah hurried us to sit inside the car. He was driving, Kyren was sitting on the seat next to him, and I was in the backseat. Noah and Kyren immersed themselves in a conversation about their career whereas my eyes were glued to the window in silence. My gaze slowly looked up at the rearview mirror and Kyren's eyes met mine. I immediately turned away and pulled out my phone from my bag. It was awkward. There was a time when we used to be close like a family. Keeping aside my one-sided feelings for him, he was always protective towards me like Noah. I called him brother and he gave me the nickname…little one. My fingers were just scrolling through Tris’ pictures in my phone’s gallery. It was the only thing to keep me distracted from Kyren's strong presence. After an awkward ride, we reached our house, and I got out of the car first. As my feet walked over to the main door, Kyren and Noah caught up with my rushed steps. “Why are you in such a hurry?” Noah yanked my hair with a light force. “Ouch! You i***t!” My lips shouted. Mom opened the door for us and my feet stepped inside. Noah and Kyren followed, closing the door behind them. “It's been a while.” Mom hugged him. He was like our family member, after all. “Your room is ready.” Mom smiled. Noah was about to take him upstairs, yet a cute voice attracted his attention and both of them stopped. “Mommy!” Tris uttered. His small steps came out of my room, and he ran over to me with a wide, happy smile on his lips. “Mommy! You're late!” He wrapped his arms around my legs. I lifted him in my arms and kissed his forehead. A smile glinted on my lips and Tris pecked my cheek. My gaze slowly shifted to his presence next to Noah and he was in shock!! “That's…” His eyes looked at Noah. “Julian's son, Tris.” Mom answered. “Who is this, gram?” Tris asked Mom in a curious tone. Noah walked over to us, took Tris from my arms, and carried him to Kyren. My heart was thumping anxiously. “This is our new tenant and my best friend, Kyren Maddox.” “Hi, champ!” Kyren smiled at him. Tris smiled back. “Mommy told me the tenant will pay us a lot of money to buy snacks!” Words came out of his mouth. “Tris!” My eyes widened. Noah wrapped his arm around my neck and chuckled. “This is what you've been teaching your son behind our backs.” His words whispered. “Shut up!” I hissed at him. “Hmm…whatever you like we will buy it for you, okay?” Kyren bent a little and mumbled to Tris. “Yay!” Tris smiled widely. “Let's go back inside.” Having said that, I took him from Noah's arms and headed back to my room without meeting Kyren's eyes for once. *** Later at night… Kyren's pov Noah and I were smoking on my room’s balcony. He told me everything that happened to Julian in four years. She went through a lot. When my eyes noticed her first at the airport standing next to Noah, I couldn't recognize her. She was changed! The girl, who was like a sweet flower, had bloomed into a grown woman. She was seventeen back then when she confessed her love for me. A little girl who mistook attraction for love. I never thought that little girl would be brave enough to raise a child alone. She's only twenty-two! *Sigh “What about that guy?” My mind was curious about him. “We never looked for him.” Noah answered. He was a tourist in Miami for a few days…there was no way to find him. I remember telling Julian to settle for a good guy but how the f*ck she ended up with a ba*tard and had one night stand. She was so innocent. That ba*tard must have fooled her! Even the thought of it was raising my blood pressure. If only we could find the a*shole…I will surely kill him. “By the way…” Noah opened his mouth. “Why are you staying with us when you could buy any apartment in Miami?” His brows twitched. “I don't like living alone!” My lips replied. “That's it?” “Yes, that's it.” *** Later that night… Julian's pov My feet stepped out of my room, and I went to the kitchen for water. I opened the fridge, grabbed a cold water bottle, and closed the door. I turned around only to see Kyren standing. “Brother?” He came closer and took the water bottle from my hands. His fingers opened the bottle cap and he emptied the entire bottle in front of me at once. “Thanks! I was thirsty.” My head turned to the fridge again and the moment my fingers touched the handle…he stepped into my space and leaned against the fridge door. His arms crossed on his chest and his eyes looked into mine. “Is something wrong?” My brows furrowed. “Who was he?” His deep voice questioned. “Who?” He paused for a few seconds… “The guy you slept with!”
