I smiled, then laughed. Douglas was a smart guy. I called Howle to let him listen to the recording. He did not respond to my call. I left him a message. " I need you it's an emergency." I told him. No response. I asked Douglas to take me to the library. I used my new crutches to hobble into my secret room. Once inside, I sat down and wrote everything from my heart. I wrote several long love letters telling Howle how much I still loved him and that I was sorry for my part in everything. I was a very bad cheating wife and he was correct in wanting a divorce. I wasn't worthy of marraige to him. I finished with a letter that expressed my utter sorrow at my failed marriage and how I wished I could go back to the beginning and be his perfect wife, somehow. I removed my wedding ring and placed it with the letters. I left the recording of my conversation with Daphne and returned to my room. It was done. I was doing Daphne's will for him, to save him. I did not know that the divorce settlement was on it's way to my doorstep. An hour later there was a currier at my door, not the front door. My personal door to my bedroom. I didn't read anything, I just signed everything sloppily, well I was on strong narcotics, so I could barely hold my pen. I made the currier wait until I signed them all, to give them back to him. I pricked my finger on the last page and pressed my blood onto the paper. It was done, I was set aside by the powerful Lycan. I fell asleep then, my finger was still bleeding when I woke up. Luke was sitting on my bed, licking my thumb. " Are you doing okay dear? Mother said I should come see you, that you looked like death. You decided to trust her and invite her in?" Something like that, I thought as I smiled weakly. He did not hear my mind. Since his mother drank from my wrist, it severed our connection? Just a guess. Luke frowned and inspected my neck, my arms. He saw my wrist bandage. He looked under it. " Mother?" I stared into his eyes. " I'm divorced now." I told him sadly. He touched my face. "That's not good. Did you ask him for the divorce because of what he did to you?" I shook my head. My hair was light pink now, the color was returning. I was changing again. " He filed. He said I was a disobedient cheater. He said I was unfaithful. He is done with me." Luke shook his head. "That's s**t! He knows he is going away for life and is pushing you away." " He will soon be exonerated. He will be free soon." I knew, Daphne told me so. "Lucas, we need to wed before that happens. I need to be protected. Will you marry me now?" I knew it was part of his mother's bargain. He smiled. "My love, I want nothing more." I looked at his happy face. He was so sweet. So lovely. I hoped he would still love me when I made him turn me on our wedding night. I would be damned before I gave that woman one more ounce of my human blood. I rested in my room. Rena did not come back to me. I texted her. She replied. "My loyalty is to my brother, cheater." I laughed at that one. She missed me, I missed her too. " It was the best day of my life. You are always welcome to my cheating bed. For now, soon I will be your enemy though. I'm sorry. You would do well to stay clear of me then. I will be ugly, like my sister, full of hate and evil. I'm sorry. I truly am. Everything is all my fault. Sorry sweet girl." She didn't respond. It was a clean break. I was alone most of my days, the next two weeks. Douglas kept me company. My leg was useless. It was ruined now. The doctor said it would never heal right. He gave me some crutches. I slept soundly last night, I dreamed of Daphne. She must have visited me. I had a vague recollection of any of our previous conversations. She stole my memory. I only knew I must marry Lucas Moore and something else...I was assured that my ex-husband would be exonerated. I looked at my phone. "Oh no." Another murder, the body of a woman was found at the cemetary. I wanted to go and investigate this, my leg wouldn't allow for this. It couldn't have been Rena or Howle, they both had solid alibis. The paper said new evidence had come forward exonerating my ex husband. A witness that saw Serena and Kent Moore being murdered by none other than Weston Moore. I wondered about all of this now. Lucas came that night. He stole me away and took me to the magistrate. We were wed in the middle of the night, weird? But that was how vampires wed I guessed. I smiled at him. He was a very sweet vampire, I do love him. I couldn't quite get over a nagging feeling that something was very wrong with all of this. Lucas booked two tickets for us to travel home, to America. He wanted to tell my father and to be honest, he needed to get away from all of the gossip about his evil father, who broke the public's trust. He was running away. He hadn't even told his dear mother about our departing. I was happy about this for some reason. I gave Douglas instructions to not let anyone into my castle, I placed my key in my desk drawer and left Scotland behind me. I was a newlywed and very happy. Wasn't I? I fell asleep on the private jet. My leg was killing me once again. When I woke up, I took three pain pills and drank a glass of wine. I wanted to be knocked out. Lucas was biting his nail. He seemed disconnected from me, upset. He was restless. I handed him a pill and a glass of wine. He smiled and shook his head. I thrust them at him. "I don't want to drink alone." I was preparing to become a vampire. I wanted to be wasted when it happened. My new husband looked at me, really looked at me. " I promise you wife, I will take good care of you. I will never make you fearful to lay next to me in our marriage bed. I love you Ken." I smiled and kissed his hand. I offered him my wrist. I could see he was starving. " Eat love, I need you to reconnect to me. I am yours now." He shook his head. " You are not ready, you are still healing love bird." He kissed my lips. I stroked that red streak in his hair between my fingers, then poked my thumb with his sharpest nail. He nodded and sucked my thumb. Soon we were both drunk. My blood was quite intoxicating, I smiled. It felt good. When he got his fill, he took me back to the rear of the plane and placed me on a fold down leather bed and shut the curtain. My memory was spotty at best, would he turn me now? I was losing my reality. I felt like a zombie. We kissed. He was so very sweet and loose from my intoxicating blood. We did not speak as we made love the first time as husband and wife. He entered me slowly, softly. He placed kisses along my brow. It all felt very good. These things he did to me were natural, they were exciting and sent me down a loving abyss of pleasure. I was having one release after the other. He kept at it for a long time while my heart filled with his love. " Oh, love bird. Even with your broken body, you are perfect to me. I've loved you forever it seems. Love bird you have made me so happy." He filled me with his seed then. I wondered about this man. Yes he was a vampire, but he was more of a man than Howle had ever been to me, Howle wasn't capable of humanity, so it seemed, he was a pure beast. Luke never used brute force to harm me, make me do what I had refused to do, I certainly didn't want a failed marriage at 18 years of age. Luke only loved me from day one. I believed in that moment that I could forget my ex husband and move on. Lucas kissed me deeply as we started up once again. It was wonderful. I was forgetting my past.....
