Adam made himself stay away from the Rez Dogs Shelter for over a week. It took him that long to sort out his reactions to Mike Dufrane. Of course, it wasn’t the first time he’d found himself attracted to another man almost from the first sight. Never before to one who seemed so different, though. Or as clearly not comfortable with Indians, bikers or some other aspect of Adam’s identity.
He’d sensed interest in Mike’s reaction from the first, but overlaying that was a strong current of fear or distrust, which seemed to create a very powerful urge to back off and either withdraw completely or make the approach at a snail’s pace.
