Scarlett’s POV-
Mr Wood went around handing out the assignment booklets to everyone in the class. We all began reading them, waiting for Mr Wood to start explaining the assignments. The first thing I noticed was that this was a three-person assignment. I nudged Amelia’s chair, and mouthed, “Work with me.”
She shook her head, pointing to Damien and Birsha, winking at me, with her thumbs up. Mr Wood cleared his throat, “So, many of you will notice that this is a three-person assignment. I want you to spend this lesson getting into your teams, and choosing at least three topics, then we will narrow it down, so you will have one topic to focus on for your assignment, and you will present it to the class. You will each, as a group, have one topic to focus on, but I want you to think of questions to ask the other groups when they do their presentations. Get to work.”
“Amelia, please,” I begged.
She shook her head, as she whispered, “I think your lover boys would love to keep you all to themselves, for this assignment.”
Birsha leaned in close to my ear, and whispered, “Oh, I would love to keep you all to myself, but I think I would certainly have to share you with Damien.”
My cheeks flushed red. My body began to heat, my core igniting. I had to squeeze my thighs together, before anyone could smell what they were already doing to me. For the past couple of years, all I could think about was being with them, making love to them. I groaned, “Urgh... fine, I will work with you both, but we had better get the top grade, or I will have you both by the nuts.”
They both chuckled, Birsha was about to say something, when Damien shook his head, stopping Birsha. I had a feeling he was about to say something dirty, but Damien stopped him. I felt relieved about that. Any more dirty or flirtatious comments from Birsha, and I really do not know what I would do. I should rephrase that. I really do not know what to do. I have never even kissed a guy, so I wouldn’t know what to do.
“I suppose we had better look at this,” Birsha sighed.
“I think we should do the death penalty debate. It was the worst thing this country ever did when they got rid of the death penalty,” Damien said as Mr Wood circled the room, listening in on the group discussion.
“That would be a literal death sentence, because no one would agree with bringing it back. It is the modern world, very few believe that the death penalty should still be in this world,” I responded.
“Maybe that would be the reason to do this one. We might get an incredibly good grade, if we are able to persuade the importance of it returning to this modern era,” Birsha said.
“Well, could you tell me how you suppose we do that,” I asked.
“Crime statistics before and after the changes to the punishments in this country. Then we could use the improvement in forensic science as an extra point. As well as the improvement in mental health research, the improvements in weaponry and how easy it can be to get said weapons,” Damien replied.
“Oh, so you have brains and brawn,” I chuckled.
Mr Wood chuckled, “I think that this would be a hard one to argue, but if you do enough research, and are able to prove your points logically, then, it might be top grade work.”
“Fine, we will do that one, as I am sure no one else will pick that one,” I sighed.
“Everyone, pay attention. Scarlett, Birsha, and Damien are going to do the death penalty argument,” Mr Wood called out to the class.
Amelia gave me a sorrowful look, and I gestured to Birsha and Damien. She gave a surprised look, and mouthed, “Brave.”
I nodded at her. I looked at Birsha and Damien. They chuckled, as Damien said, “Thanks for the compliment, we can get this done. Maybe a study date. Will that help?”
I froze and just stared at him when I heard the word date. Damien leaned in closer to me, his ice blue piercing into my very being, he rested his chin in his hand and elbow on the desk, as he smiled at me, he whispered, “It will just be to study, we promise. But if you want a real date, we would be happy to take you on one. You just say the word.”
I gulped, he was so close to me, that I found myself glancing at his perfect lips. A devilishly handsome smirk spread across his lips. I turned away, and let out the breath I had been holding, as my cheeks flushed. Birsha whispered, “I think we should just take her on a date.”
“Nope... study date, sounds great. From this afternoon into evening. Is that good for you guys? I have to go to the library after class, and then I have a coffee date with Amelia. Girl talk, so you can’t come,” I responded.
“That is fine, we will come to the library with you, and maybe we could meet with you after you have had your coffee. We can pick you up,” Damien smiled.
“Do either of you even own a car,” I raised an eyebrow as I glanced between them both.
“Well, we teleport, so we haven’t needed to use a car before, though we do know how to drive,” Birsha shrugged.
I chuckled, “Well, at least you got the fashion for this era right. Meet me at the café in three hours. I will drive us to my home, just as long as you like dogs. I have a nice big dog; well, I should say wolf.”
“What do you mean, wolf,” Damien asked.
“I was on a walk in the woods around my home, and I found this regular female wolf. She had been killed by snake bite. She had a little pup curled up next to her. He was shivering, whining. He was sad because of the loss of his mother. He had no one. I felt sorry for him, so I took him in. I raised him from a pup. He is a big wolf now. He guards my home. He is my pet, my friend,” I replied.
“You have a heart of gold. We both love dogs. You should see the hellhounds. They are fun. Damien has a way with them,” Birsha smiled.
“I do try. What about phones? Do you have phones,” I replied.
They nodded, I wrote my number down and passed it to Birsha, but before our conversation could continue, Mr Wood called for attention at the front of the class, he wanted to speak with all of us, so he could make a note of who was in teams together, and what topic we were all choosing. Class continued for another thirty minutes, as Mr Wood went over the other details for the group assignment. We all sat listening, though I could tell Damien and Birsha were staring at me a lot, which made everyone whisper. I even noticed Amelia’s group asking her what was going on between us. Thankfully, the other two in her group were vampires, so when Amelia responded, they might be her mates, and I would find out in a couple of days, when it is my eighteenth. They left it at that. It was the humans that were the biggest problem. They would never understand a relationship between three people, some would, but there aren’t many like that. Birsha and Damien were the two biggest distracting me. They had their eyes on me almost all the time. It felt like they were having a private conversation between themselves somehow. Maybe over the study date, I can ask them about being a demon. I have so many questions about being a demon, questions that I have never been able to ask anyone about before.
