Winter let out a disturbing groan after waking up from bed, his brows squeezed tight in irritation. It’s been a couple of days since he’d spent his night with an unknown woman, the woman he can’t seem to remember her face no matter how much he tried and despite her face being hidden from him by his brain, her fruity-scented skin and citrus scented hair tortured him constantly.
He could still remember holding her, planting soft kisses down her tender skin as he slowly claimed her, her soft moans that turned music to his blessed ears after the pleasurable bliss that came with their union, the way she trembles and shakes to his every thrust, and her fingers that had dug deep into his back as she held on tightly to him not wanting to let go.
He could still remember every single one of it, from her hazel eyes, soft straight auburn hair, her beige skin that had a warm undertone to it, to her heart-shaped lips that had met his thin ones, down to the butterfly birthmark right above her hip, she was stuck to his brain like glue and yet he couldn’t remember what she looked like, at least not entirely not even when he tried to put those tiny details together, just what she felt like in his arms after their embrace.
She sure is a persistent one, Winter thought dragging himself up from his Alaskan king-sized bed that spread but not enough to reach any angle of his capacious bedroom. Dragging his idle body to the curtain wall in nothing but his checkers' pyjama pants that reached down to his ankle.
“What are you doing here so early Terran?” He spoke out before his best friend of centuries appeared out of the empty corner of the room.
“How do you always manage to do that? I mean I masked my presence very well” Terran, a dragon with the ability to manipulate Earth approached him by the window. Even though they all have the ability to mask their presence and appear invincible to others sometimes, none of their kind has ever actually succeeded in fooling Winter since he could feel the fluctuation of water molecules in space, though they all don’t know that. Thinking maybe he would be caught off guard for once Terran continued to try again despite always getting caught by Winter each time.
“Having sleep trouble or is it woman trouble?” It sucks for Winter to know he’s right. He just had to be having both problems. “Is this about the woman you met at the bar?” Terran questioned further and guessed correctly each time but Winter ignored him as his disturbed expression persisted while he stood staring into nothingness with his hands tucked into his pajama pockets.
“There’s something about her, I can’t put a finger on it” Winter hated the fact that the stranger wouldn’t get out of his head no matter how much he tried. No woman had lasted that long in his mind after his wife, it’s probably because we slept together was what he thought but he was starting to find it rather disturbing.
“Don’t be a sucker, it’s probably because you slept together, it’s a fickle feeling that dies away in a couple of days-
“It’s been a couple of days Terran” Winter turned in Terran's direction to see him reaching for the basket of fruits that was placed on the glass table in front of the bedroom sofa Terran had settled himself in.
“You didn’t share your life essence with her did you?” Winter’s brows unconsciously knitted tight to the question, even if he was quite intoxicated he was not stupid enough to share his life essence with a one-night stand but Winter wasn’t exactly sure since he didn’t exactly remember everything that happened.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Terran’s expression changed swiftly. Suddenly concerned his friend might have shared part of himself with a stranger he spent a night with.
“I’m not that stupid to do something that could get me killed Terran” Winter replied nonchalantly and Terran heaved a heavy sigh of relief. “But if you hadn’t stood me up, none of that would have happened, I spent hours waiting for you” Terran recoiled remorsefully.
“Yeah, no matter how high you were, you couldn’t have done that and I’m sorry, something came up,” Terran said apologetically before biting down on the bright red apple he had grabbed from the fruit basket decorating Winter's table.
“How have you been doing? And also, why is your aura so weak?” Dragon aura is a magical attribute they all had that announces their presence to their kind, it could also serve as intimidation to dragons of lower ranks.
“None of your business” Winter shrugged despite trying to figure out why as well.
“How long has it been since you’ve morphed? You need to get back to Dragonhive to shift or you’ll continue to get weaker, don’t be stubborn” Terran said with a mouthful of fruit.
“As I said, it’s none of your business,” Winter spat harshly before he walked away from the curtained wall right to his bathroom. He knew Terran was right but he was still kinda pissed at his cousin who was their queen by the way. While most of their kind resides in Dragonhive, a dragon city hidden away from humans and free from their interference or civilization, there are still some that decided to stay within human cities like Winter and Terran who even established a business foothold, thriving and living within human cities. Winter has long grown tired of that, he has his own business of course, one which he named Winter Empire but he couldn’t remember the last time he stepped foot there, the place is now run by his contracted humans.
Winter knew deep down he was starting to wither, he’d long lost the purpose of his existence and he was barely hanging on, boredom eats away at his spirit like a dog gnawing on its bone, nothing excites him anymore and his smile had long since faltered but this girl…he thought the girl whose scent had find its way into his brain, no…it’ll probably fade soon, he thought to himself before he returned to his room where Terran was busy with his fruits.
Winter saw his eyes change and his eyeballs narrowed out, he knew he was checking him with his dragon eyes and that kind of irked him.
“I can sense it better now, your aura, your Dragonheart is still strong and so is your power but-” he paused and continued to check his old friend out and within his line of vision was the blue lining that covered him like a mist, a symbol of his power and authority but Terran knew they’ve grown weaker compared to how he used to see them in the past.
“Have you been sleeping more these days-
“Don’t worry, I’m not going into eternal sleep” Winter reassured. Terran knew boredom was one of the terrifying diseases their kind tend to have, after spending several Millennial, dragons tend to grow bored of existence, and eventually give up on existing by going into eternal sleep, it’s nothing different from human deaths and Terran’s worry grew because he knew, nothing excites his friend anymore.
“And stop checking me like that…it’s annoying” He scowled at him and Terran flinched at the authority imbued in his voice and the murderous look he had on his face as he glared at him and made him gulp. As expected of a royal dragon, Terran thought adjusting in his seat.
“Okay, got it, how about I called over a few ladies, I mean who knows…maybe spending time with someone new could help you forget that mysterious lady or I can help you find her if you want-
“No need, just send someone new” He waved his hand before walking into his dressing room to change into some new clothes after getting rid of his bathroom robe.
“The name’s Riley” Winter flinched as he recalled the mysterious lady’s name. That’s surprising, he thought since he forgot the name of any girl that’s been to his bed the moment they got out of it. I need to confirm…he concluded as he stood in front of his dressing mirror staring at his reflection while fighting to remember the rest of the girl’s face. Winter got frustrated and clenched his fists while staring at the mirror in rage. The object cracked and shattered as ice crept on its surface.
“What am I even doing?” Winter sighed and returned to his room but Terran was gone, he found himself getting rather dizzy and walked sluggishly to his bed where he crawled into and fell asleep soon after and then it came, the image of the girl’s hands on him, her slender arms around his neck as he buried his head into the crook of her neck, her heavy breathing and silent moans echoed deeply into his ears and the warmth he felt against his cold skin had him wanting more, deeper, he wanted to bury his entire existence into her and while she wriggle to free herself from him, it only fan the flames of his burning passion to claim her. Winter gasped from his sleep, his breathing heavy and unsteady, what on earth…he panted before looking down between his legs. He scoffed at the tent between his legs before letting out a loud hysterical laugh.
“Did I just have a wet dream?” Winter snickered before the door to his apartment opened and Terran appeared with two girls. A brunette and a blond, they were both beautiful women, curvaceous and hot by human standards. Both reeked cheap perfume scents as they paraded his front with wry smiles and seductive gestures that almost made Winter yawn.
“I carefully hand-selected then, what do you think?” Terran wore a smug look feeling proud but the dry expression on Winter’s face never ceases. “Oh c’mon, don’t be such a bore” Terran said in exasperation as Winter continue to stare at the nervous girls with disinterest.
“Well, I should give them a chance at least” Winter finally responded and both girls immediately wore a brightened look before closing their distance with Winter.
“Well, that’s great…that’s what you should do, I guess I’ll see you later then, ladies, do your best” And like that Terran was gone but Winter kept taking the girls in while his thoughts continue to stray, I think she was wearing a jacket, and her hair was pulled to the back, it wasn’t a bun though…Winter kept thinking while both girls got busy with their hands, the brunette between his knees and the other climbing on the bed with her fingers roaming his shirtless body Winter’s eyes widened as he recalled the feeling of her touch, unlike the other two girls whose touch only irritated him, hers was warm and soft…fuck! I’m screwed.
“Stop” He slapped a hand to his face as his voice rumbled through the room while the girls trembled in fear wondering what they did wrong.
