The two robots halted in front of our cell, and their bodies rotated ninety degrees under their legs until their four pairs of glowing green video eyes stared at Casey and me. One robot extended one of its manipulator arms from a hemispherical tool container under its body. It whirred as it stretched out and touched the sensor pad of our door lock. The two-ton spider robot beeped out an electronic security code. The lock clunked and the door swung open.
The robot spoke through its body pod’s loudspeaker. The sound was deep and threatening, but the words were Big d**k’s. “Number M-0001 and M-0012. Come out.”
