Chapter 5

1224 Words
Typing away on my laptop, I had completely lost track of time. It was already late in the afternoon and Alexandra was going to be here any minute. I have been responding to my emails, keeping up with my businesses and trying to plan how to get Amelia back. Ezio has a lot of men and I don’t want to lose anymore of my own. I have been sending Lorenzo updates on the situation so that he can get his guys ready to help us when we make our move against Ezio.  “Micky?” Alexandra called from behind the door after knocking twice.  “Come in” I replied, not taking my eyes off of my laptop screen.  Alex walked in and shut the door behind her, I glanced up. She was wearing a low cut navy blouse with a white pencil skirt and matching heels. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she was holding a green folder in her hands.  “What can I do for you Alex?” I asked and then looked back at the screen.  “I wanted to speak to you about Tony” she hesitated as she sat down. I tensed my jaw and swivelled myself round to face her.  “What about him?” I growled, sensing the concern in her voice.  “Are you going to kill him?”. I smirked at her and shuffled forwards in my seat.  “Why do you care?” I grumbled in a low, intimidating tone.  “I... I’m just worried” she stuttered.  “My sister’s life is being threatened and if you kill one of Ezio’s important guys then he will find her and kill her” she panicked. I raised my eyebrow at her and scoffed.  “Alex, you don’t even know where your sister is. I don’t even think you’ve met her” I challenged heartlessly.  When she was left with my mum, her biological mother had another child a few years later. She had found another man and had Alexandra’s half sister. Alex hasn’t been in contact with her mother since she left so there was a very slim chance that she has ever spoken to her sister.  “She’s still my sister Michele! You know how important family is!” She protested in anger.  “I mean for f**k sake, Amelia isn’t family and you’re risking your life and your men’s lives to save her!” She blurted out. I clenched my fists and stood up.  “Because Amelia is worth more than your entire family combined!” I snarled in her face, unable to hold my tongue.  Alexandra’s expression numbed and she stared at me. She slammed the folder into the desk without breaking eye contact with me.  “You don’t want to help my sister, fine. This is the last time I’m f*****g helping you Michele!” She snapped and stood up to leave. When she got near the door I read the front of the folder, ‘Ezio’s info’. I sighed and blinked heavily.  “Wait!” I called out and she stopped in the doorway. When she turned to me, I looked up at her apologetically. “We will find your sister and take her somewhere secure” I gave in. Alex’s expression lightened and she smiled at me. “Thank you” she said before leaving the room.  I took the folder and opened it. It was filled with handwritten notes that Alexandra had written herself. Each page had notes of an encounter she had with Ezio or one of his associates. She went into such detail to the point of describing what each person was wearing and the exact location of the meeting. It gave me an idea as to how Ezio deals with informants that he has under his thumb through threats. One page caught my eye.  20th November It was a few days after I had taken Amelia from her family. I was intrigued as to what Ezio wanted with Alex on that day.  Time: 8:40pm Location: The Old Motel Ezio met me in room 16 of the old motel on the other side of town. He was wearing his usual white shirt and black trousers. His sleeves were rolled up showing off his snake tattoo on one of his forearms. He kept asking me where Michele was and if he has been in contact with me. He seemed more stressed out that usual which scared me. I challenged him on his threat regarding my sister and he just laughed in my face. One of his men entered the room and gave me a photo of her entering the school gates; I couldn’t tell where it was as it didn’t look familiar to me. He told me that he knew her exact location and that the moment I showed any disloyalty, he will take her and torture her. I don’t want to go into detail about the sick fantasies he had in mind that involved her but he was very descriptive. I have to keep obeying his commands until I know my sister is safe. Everyone around me is at risk until she is taken into protection.  (Photo of sister attached: girl with curly, long, ginger hair with a school uniform on. View taken from behind)  I kept reading the last line over and over. I felt as though it was some kind of warning. The ink seemed a lot darker than the rest of the note; Alexandra must have used a different type of pen to write the last line so that I would see it. She was warning me that I was at risk, that Ezio still had a hold over her. I put the paper down and rang Nico’s phone.  “Fratello?” He answered with concern.  “I need you to find Alexandra’s sister, it needs is to be your main priority!” I exclaimed. “But what about Amelia?” He asked hesitantly.  “Alex is still being controlled by Ezio, he is using her sister as insurance. The quicker we find her sister the safer everyone will be”.  “Why don’t we just cut her off?” He asked and I grunted down the phone with irritation.  “I f****d her off once before, she’s actually reaching out for help and she might know something but is too afraid to tell us. If we show her we have her sister in a safe place then she might be willing to trust us fully” I explained.  As much as I wanted to torture it out of her, I knew that her sisters life was more important than anyone else’s. I know for a fact my mum would be turning in her grave if I used her sister like Ezio is.  “Just find her and bring her here!” I demanded and hung up. I took a picture of the photo which was attached and sent it to Nico.
