The next time I woke up, I could smell the fragrance of roses before I even opened my eyes. My eyelids felt heavy again and it took a little bit for me to get them to flutter open. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, then looked around and immediately noticed several bouquets around my hospital room. When I looked to my side, I saw Max was still here sleeping on the tiny loveseat. He looked uncomfortable but still slept there anyway.
I pulled the blanket down and lifted my gown to see a bandage on my side. I was surprised by how small the bandage was considering how much pain I was still feeling.
