*** I woke up to the gentle rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains, casting a soft glow in the room. At first, I was confused at the strange sight before me. But it took a while before I remembered where I was, hundreds of miles away from my former life. An inadvertent smile slowly crept onto my face as the realisation dawned on me. I didn't even bother to move; I simply laid there and allowed this warm, ecstatic feeling to wash all over me. There wasn't anyone kicking me and ordering me around, no aggressive yelling of my name as I was carted around the house like a slave. I was free, free to just live a normal life like everyone else, and do things on my own terms. If this was how life was going to be from now on, then I was so ready for it.
