Chapter Five

Can't stay away;

Alessandro's POV;

After seeing my mate my heart simply couldn't remain in my chest, I wanted to run to her, wrap my arms around her and kiss her but alpha Sebastian was there and everyone knows you never disrespect the alpha, however, how am I supposed to be obedient when my mate was finally here?.

"Hey, creeper stop that", Bradley snapped me out of my daze.

"Stop what?", I scowled.

"Looking into the distance like a fool, it's already bad enough that you were staring at the alpha's daughter like a perv".

"Crap, you saw that?", I bit down on my lip.

"Yup and I also know she's your mate", he whispered.

I dragged Bradley's smartass off the grounds to talk to him, most people would just look and mind their own business, not Bradley, he's always been too smart for his own good. Alpha Sebastian and my mate went inside and were taking their time, I assume he was showing her around.

"Listen you, you better not tell anyone, not even alpha", I threatened.

"Wow you're really threatening me, first of all, you should be glad that I'm the one that found out and not Brenda, secondly do I really look like the gossiping kind? Get over yourself, you've known me for what, twelve years and you still can't trust me", Bradley said back, he was hurt.

"I'm sorry but you know how I've been with trust ever since Andy", I looked away.

Andy was my first crush, she had pretty brown hair and deep brown eyes, I met her when mom had died and she was always there for me, always, she was my everything, she even promised me that if she found her mate she would reject him and be with me but she lied when she found out her mate was an alpha she quickly ditched me and said terrible things about me to her new pack members and mate like;

"He was never really that strong, he was a cry baby, I can't believe I wasted my time and body on that guy".

Normally I don't believe gossip but I heard those words first hand from her as she was with her new pack, I remember correctly because I went to her pack to try to persuade her to be with me but it didn't go so well.

"I'm not Andy, leave that slut behind and think about your mate now", Bradley again shook me out of my daze.

"I know but let's be honest here, my whole life has been a joke, I'm pretty sure she won't even want me", I looked down.

"Seriously? Then why would she look at you like that?".

"I don't know but I'm keeping my expectations low with her even though she's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen", I looked Bradley in the eyes.

"That she is, and she has a banging body, you've scored the jackpot my friend", Bradley smiled.

"Emil thinks so too", I laughed, "anyways let's get back to the grounds", I walked ahead while he followed closely behind. I stood in my row again and the alpha came out with my mate.

Alpha Sebastian introduced her to the pack and I finally knew her name, Stephanie, I liked it, she looked at me again and I looked back, I got lost in those sapphire eyes, she was gorgeous.

Alpha led her away and I could feel a piece of my heart being ripped, I smiled a genuine smile for the first time in a long time, I watched my mate as she walked away with the alpha and turned back to face a scowling man, it was Marcel.

"He knows", Emil spat.

"Get ready for the worst", I said back to him.

"One thing Alessandro I asked you to do one thing and this is what you do!", my father yelled at me.

"Keep your damn voice down, Roxane is sleeping", I said back to him closing the door behind me.

"I don't give a damn, what the hell is wrong with you?!", he yelled on.

"Why are you yelling at me as if I'm the one that chooses mates", I raised my voice back.

"Reject her", he looked straight into my eyes.

"Now I know you've gone insane, never", I looked back at him.

"Reject her and mate Teresa, that's an order".

"And since when have I ever obeyed your orders? I'm not rejecting her, whatever plan you have stops today because I'm going to mark my mate", I challenged him, my mistake.

Dad lunged himself at me and gave me one of the hardest punches I had ever received, I fell back but immediately stood up to throw my own punch, dad was a bastard but he was really strong that's why he's the beta, he always beat me when I was younger until he became the beta, then he moved on to verbal abuse. I raised up my arms to block the fists and let them get all the blows, he aimed lower and gut-punched me, I coughed as air and blood left my body.

I knelt down on the floor and he was about to do worse when Roxane walked in, she ran in front of me and stopped him.

"Touch this boy again and I'm telling the alpha, you and I both know why I'm not snitching so be careful", she threatened.

I looked up and dad was looking down at me, he spat then walked out of the house.

Roxane knelt down in front of me and helped me stand, she led me to the kitchen where she got a first aid kit from one of the cabinets. She stood in front of me and started treating my bruises and cuts.

"Ouch!", I jumped startling her.

"Sorry, I'll try to be more gentle", she smiled and continued.

I just sat in silence as she treated me, I started thinking about all the times my father hit me and how many times I had lost, I was strong but not as strong as him, the worst day of my life still clicks in my head, and because of days like this, I can't forget it.

Flashback

"Leave him alone please", my mom grabbed my father's hand and tried to stop him but he threw her on the ground.

"Stay out of this woman, I'm warning you", he spat.

It was one of those days, a 'training day', on those days my father would beat the life out of me and claim he was making me stronger when really he was just trying to kill me.

"But he's only a child", she got up from the ground and jumped on dads back, dad threw her down then grabbed her by her hair.

"I'll deal with you later", he locked her in the coat closet and walked back to me, I stood up because I could hear mom crying and banging on the door, I tried to fight back but since I was only nine years old I only inflicted more pain on myself.

Dad dealt with me that day, he walked towards me and gave me punches like I was his equal, he punched my small stomach and I puked chunks mixed with blood since then I've had a problem with my stomach, he hit me again dislocating my shoulder. That day I ended up in the hospital, I had so many injuries it was sickening, I had a dislocated shoulder, a broken jaw, a busted lip, seriously scarred hands, and a broken leg, it's only because I am a werewolf that I survived.

And what else did he do? he blamed a bunch of rouges and had them killed, I knew one of them, he was my friend. I've hated that man ever since...

Present

Roxane finally finished dealing with my wounds, I thanked her and walked upstairs to my room. I threw myself on my bed and lay in silence, highlight of my day I found my mate and she's gorgeous, downside of my day she's the alpha's daughter and my father beat the crap out of me again. I closed my eyes and almost slept when I received a text from Bradley, I unlocked my phone and read it.

B: you missed the announcement, how are you?.

A: he beat the crap out of me...

B: I'm sorry man, but I know what will cheer you up ;)

A: what?

B: a party

A: I'm not in the mood for that

B: not just any party, its a party for your mate...

I sat upright, now I was interested.

A: go on

B: alpha Sebastian is throwing a welcoming party and everyone is invited, it's your chance to meet her.

A: but my old man

B: alpha said everyone so he can't stop you ;).

A: thank you, what time does it start?.

B: it's about to start right now, get your ass moving.

A: on it.

I put my phone on my bed and raced to the shower, I took my clothes off and showered quickly, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw the bruises were still there but only barely. I walked to my dresser and picked out a turtle neck to hide the bruises from the alpha.

I got fully dressed and tied my hair in a man bun, I grabbed my glasses and my phone and headed downstairs. I kissed Roxane goodbye and ran to the packhouse.

If Marcel thought his beating did something he was wrong, he only made me more determined to see my mate.

At the party I spotted Bradley, he was standing with Brenda, Teresa and some other warrior wolves I almost walked towards them but my old man grabbed my hand and led me away.

"Smile my darling son", he whispered and I knew he was going to make me fake a smile and call him a good father.

We walked around the room and he introduced me to a lot of people, I liked how well known alpha Sebastian was when he was grieving everyone showed support and when he was happy everyone celebrated with him.

The night was long and dad tried his hardest to keep me away from Stephanie, I almost thought he succeeded when alpha Sebastian and Stephanie walked towards us, I could see dad tense up. Alpha Sebastian introduced her to us and dad did what he always did kiss-up. I looked at my mate and she looked breathtaking.

Alpha Sebastian gave me the go-ahead and I took my mate outside, I've never been so happy. We walked to my favorite pond and got to know each other better. I put it out there that I'm single and I saw her get interested, maybe she really did like me, I was holding on to that spark of faith and when we kissed I felt surer that she liked me.

I thought I was going to lose control from kissing her, she had such a strong effect on me and I couldn't stop, but to be fair she was into it too so I wasn't abusing her. We were stopped by a damn squirrel and decided to go back inside, but before that, I got her number and she told me to save it however I wanted, I knew exactly what I'd save her as.

We went back into the house and alpha Sebastian walked to us, judging by the way he looked at us he knew what happened but brushed it off...I thought. Stephanie went to her room and alpha took me to his office, he said he wanted to talk to me and Marcel but he lied. We entered his office and I took a seat.

"She's your mate", he got straight to the point.

"How did you know?", I looked at him surprised.

"That look you give her, it's not hard to see", he looked back at me.

"Alpha I...", I started but he stopped me.

"Alessandro you are like a son to me, I want you to be happy more than anything in the world especially since you've been through a lot", he smiled, "however I want to keep my daughter safe, one of the reasons why her mother left is because of werewolves, you understand don't you?".

"I do, but alpha Sebastian I would never ever put her in danger, I swear to you".

"I know but I'm still a father and it's my job to keep her safe".

I looked down and remained quiet, just when I thought I had found happiness its all taken away.

"You can still hang around her, if you promise you'll never show her your wolf and you keep it at friend level, I do understand your attraction towards her but it's for her own good", I looked up at him and he smiled.

"If I can still be by her side I accept", I gave a small smile.

"Thank you, you can go now".

I said goodnight to him and everyone else and went home.

I know I'm reckless and the alpha has trusted me but I can't keep it at a friendly level.

I lay in bed looking at my phone, at her contact number wondering if she's down for me before I took this step, I tapped on her number and it started ringing

"Hello?"

"It's Alessandro".

"I'm glad you called, how did it go?".

"Pretty ok but I'm not allowed to date you or do something romantic with you".

".....so you won't?".

"I don't know, all I know is that I can't stay away from you"

"So what now?"

"It's completely up to you"

Follow your father's wishes and stay away from me or take your chances with me.

I hope she takes her chances...
