Chapter 4

“He will like that.”

All the shoes were carefully boxed and placed in paper bags.

“Ready to go?”

I smiled at Ramona as I stood up and held her hand.

“Let’s eat first before we go home.”

“Okay”

I smiled at Ramona while I shrugged my shoulders.

“What do you want to eat? Any cuisine?”

I looked at her.

“Your house has been giving me food to feasts, can we eat something simple?”

Her face looked quizzical.

“That would mean?”

“Pizza?”

And she chuckled.

“Pizza it is.”

And Mosino, the chauffeur, butted in.

“And I know a perfect place.”

“Great! Let’s go.”

So he drove and brought us to an Italian restaurant where I soon smelled the whiff of a dough being baked. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the smell of fresh pizza.

Ramona immediately ordered pizza and some pasta before we even sat at our table.

“I am starving.”

“Me too.”

We were famished that we gobbled our orders as they came. We laughed and told stories until we were done.

We went home.

I went straight to my room where all the clothes and shoes were placed neatly in my closet. They were already ironed. I chose two clothes that I can wear on my first day of work.

After cleaning up, I slept.

When I woke up, I saw a note by my bedside.

“Give me a call if you’re ready for breakfast.”

I rushed to the shower, realizing that I need to be ready by eight. Around seven, I was able to shower, dry my hair, place some makeup, and be ready. I went to the kitchen to look for Ramona. She was carrying a big tray full of fruits, cereals and bread.

“Oh there you are.”

She placed the tray on the dining table.

“Wait, let me look at you.”

She gazed at me from my hair down to my stiletto. And she even went around me.

“Stunningly beautiful.”

“Thank you.”

And I bowed like I was on stage.

“Now eat before you get going.”

And I ate French toast with her. Then we heard Nicholas coming and I ran to my room to freshen and grab my things.

I went straight outside to wait for any instruction. And I was right. He asked me to sit beside him in the vehicle. As we traveled, he was reading on his tablet while I was quiet and anxious.

“Are you alright?”

And I just nodded.

After some thirty minutes, we finally arrived at the place where he needs to meet some people for venture talk.

We both sat and he ordered some drinks for us. Soda for him and apple juice for me. As I sip on my juice, several men came walking towards our table. Two of them seemed to be the people we were to meet, the others were bodyguards.

Nicholas stood as they neared us and extended his hand for a shake. I also stood and smiled. But one guy extended his hand to me for a shake. Nicholas looked at me. In his look, I saw some fierce of jealousy as I took the man’s hand for a shake.

“Benjamin. You are?”

And I softly answered my name as we shook hands. And we all sat.

As they discussed the venture, Benjamin would always glance at me and I would see Nicholas twitch his lips.

“Nicholas, can you bring your girl again next time?”

“She works for me.”

“Huh? You’re so lucky to have an employee like her.”

He chuckled.

“Today’s her first day of work.”

“Then maybe I can pirate her?”

“It’s up to her to decide.

Nicholas looked at me with a don’t-you-dare look. I smiled and shrugged my shoulders to Benjamin.

“I wouldn’t want to leave my work just like that.”

And I smiled at both of them and excused myself to go to the powder room.

While I was in the restroom, Benjamin came in.
