Sophia
Today was meant to be the happiest day of my life. The day little girls all around the world dream of.
My wedding day.
And I was dreading it. It felt like I was going to a wake and not my own special day. Tears kept coming unbidden. Like I was grieving. And in a way I was.
I was grieving for the girl I used to be. And for the future that I would never have. I was grieving for my freedom.
Because I was under no illusions that my life as I knew it was over. Dimitri had won.
Hell he had won the moment he had bargained for the safe return of my brother’s son. He may have put the offer of marriage on the table to Lily first but we both knew it was me that he really wanted.
He had never hidden the fact. Not that first night, nor in the months I had paid back what I had stolen by working in his house and definitely not now.
If I hadn’t known him, I may have actually been excited for this union. He was handsome and powerful and he lifted my station from bastard daughter to wife of one most dangerous men in the city. But I did know him.
Six months I had cared for his children. His two beautiful girls. Six months of seeing and hearing his numerous s****l partners and their cries of pain.
Dimitri had a cruel streak, One he hid well behind his friendly laugh and charming smile but I wasn’t fooled by the mask he wore.
And tonight I would be his wife. I would get to be there when he finally let his mask slip totally. I would be the one crying out in pain.
My only comfort was that he had promised not to touch me again once I had given him a son. I was keeping everything crossed that I fell pregnant quickly.
“Why the tears?”
My eyes lifted to meet his pale blue ones in the mirror of the hotel room vanity table.
Angrily I wiped them away. “I’m fine.”
A tiny line appeared between his eyebrows. “I did not ask you how you were Sophia, I asked why you are crying?” A smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. “Are you not happy on our wedding day?” His smile turned cruel. You didn’t need to be a mind reader to know that he knew I wasn’t. He knew it and he was loving it.
“I just wish it wasn’t so rushed.” I went back to brushing my hair out. Trying to keep my eyes from settling on his reflection.
“It is not rushed, I have given you months to prepare… I am not a patient man Sophia as you will soon learn.” His words were ominous and the hand that was holding the hair brush started to tremble.
“I just wish my brother and friends could be here.” My eyes met his.
“Ah yes of course you do.” He crossed the room and it was only then that I noticed the garment bag over his arm. “But think how happy they will be when we return to them a happily married couple. One big happy family.”
I lowered my eyes again. I wasn’t the shrinking violet type of woman, I never have been. But neither was I suicidal.
Dimitri was dangerous.
“I have something to make you smile my beautiful bride… or at least I hope it will make you smile.” He flourished the garment bag in his arms. “Your wedding gown.”
I tried to muster the smile he was waiting for. “Thank you , I thought….” I motioned down to my jeans.
“You thought wrong Sophia, no bride of mine will wear anything but a gown when she vows herself to me. Now come let’s ….” his hands came down hard on my shoulders. And I jumped.
He had touched me in public, held my hands and brushed his lips over my cheek in over the top shows of affection that weren’t real but he had never touched me when we were alone.
“I make you nervous.” It wasn’t a question.
“Thank you, I will just go and…” I stood trying to take the dress from his hands. Meaning to take it into the bathroom to change.
Dimitri tightened his hands around it.
“Dimitri?” I tilted my chin up to meet his eyes. Why wasn’t he letting me have it if he wanted me to wear it.
“I will help you change Sophia.” His accent seemed to get thicker every time he said my name.
“I ….” I couldn’t get the words out of my mouth as panic gripped me.
“Come , in a few hours you will be my wife. Your body will belong to me. I have been patient with you now I want to look at you.” His icy eyes narrowed. “Strip Sophia and let me help you get dressed.”
He stepped into my space , his fingers already reaching for the hem on my grey T-shirt. Tightening when I tried to step away. “Arms up Sophia.”
“Dimitri I can undress myself.”
His eyes flashed. “I said arms up.” He didn’t raise his voice he didn’t need to. Somehow the quiet calm way he said it was scarier.
I raised my arms. Shivering as the shirt was pulled up and away. He didn’t give me a chance to say or do anything before his hands slid around my back. My bra fell, dangling uselessly from my shoulders as my breasts sprang free. I crossed my arms over my chest as cold air flowed over me. Making my skin erupt into goosebumps.
For several long moments he didn’t say a word, he just stared at my face and then with slow deliberate ease , he forced my hands down. Pulling the bra down my arms so it fell on the floor.
I would have tried to cover myself again but his grip on my wrists made it impossible. His cold eyes darted downwards. Something flickered into their lifeless depths.
One hand slid down my side, brushing against the curve of my breast, his fingers teasingly close to my n*****s. n*****s that puckered up under his touch. His eyes darkened even more. As if he knew that I was prettified but turned on all at the same time. As if it turned him on.
My fear did it for him. I realised with a start.
What a sadistic asshole.
I forced myself to relax. If he liked fear I would not show it to him.
“Keep your arms down at your side Sophia.”
I tilted my chin up. “Yes Dimitri.”
A smile curved his full mouth. “Good girl , you are learning.” He pushed the denim down my legs. My underwear bunched up inside of it. “Step.”
I stepped up, trying to get my foot out of the leg without falling on my face. I wobbled and his hands came down on my hips. “Do you feel uncomfortable naked in front of me Sophia?”
I opened my mouth to lie and then shut it again. It wouldn’t do me any good to lie to him. For one he would see straight through it. And secondly…. My thoughts trailed off as his cool hand slid over my hip and brushed against my ass.
“Yes.”
“Why? You are going to be my wife. Your body will belong to me. You have been naked with a man before haven’t you…?” He squeezed my ass hard. And I sucked in a breath. “You have felt the pleasure a man can give you.” He gripped one cheek, his fingers digging in as he moulded his body to mine.
I let my eyes raise to meet his. If he thought he could shock me by pressing his swollen d**k against my stomach , he had another thing coming. “I’ve been with a man before.”
“Good, I have no use for a virgin. I need a mother to my children. A wife to share my bed.”
“A wife in name only Dimitri. We will only be together to conceive.”
He chuckled. His head ducked downwards as he placed his full lips on my n****e. The smallest of kisses. “As you wish Sophia.” Suddenly he sounded bored. “Get dressed , we are going to be late.”
I could do nothing but stare at him.
What the hell was going on?
