“We love you?” Liv said as she turned around to face their mother.
Their mother stood there, her black bag hanging off her shoulder, a large folder in her arms. Her suit seemed a little big for her, and Ash frowned; that suit had fit perfectly. He would know he had gotten it custom-made for her; it was their present for her last birthday. Her mascara had smudged a little, probably from rubbing her eyes, and the lipstick she had worn had faded. She looked exhausted.
“What are you idiots doing here?” she sighed, rubbing the corner of her eyes with her thumb and forefinger. “You know what? No, I don’t want to know. Just stay here. I need to drop these off with Miss Fae, and then we’ll go home. We need to talk.”
