Chapter Seven - Classmates

2201 Words
Crystal Raine Meadows After the orientation, a lot of signs guided us inside our classroom. Luckily, Jenny and I ended up in the same room! "I can't believe we're really in the same room! I can't wait till we get to do projects together! You could sleepover in my house!" Jenny beamed while dragging me around the spacious hallways that are filled with students that are also looking for their rooms. "Yes, I couldn't believe it either, but I'm glad because I know for sure that I could enjoy the whole year with you," I sincerely said, so she just smiled at me. "Hey, how about we get a dorm here?! Wouldn't it be nice if we could stay in our school?" she suggested, but I immediately shook my head at her. "As much as I wanted to come with you and have a dorm, I can't because I really have to stay with Ate Kathy, we're also moving soon at the flower village park," I whispered, so she halted her run before looking at me intently. "You guys are really moving there?! I thought it was a joke!" she exclaimed, so I furrowed my eyebrows at her. "What? I don't understand, why would I joke about that?" I argued, so she nodded like she knows that I have a point. "Because! Only selected families in the realms could live there with the legend's consent! You guys must be really close to them," she beamed. She also looked jealous for a moment. I looked at our schedules and glanced at the hallways that are filled with different doors, Section A, B, and C. "We're in section A, so our room should be...here," I pointed at the one on the front, so Jenny immediately reached for the doorknob and opened it. The door made a creaking sound as several eyes looked in our way when we entered the room, I couldn't help but feel anxious about how they stare at us. "Do we have dirt on our face or something?" I whispered to Jenny, but she shook her head as she found a seat for us. "Nope, we don't have any dirt on our faces, they're just curious where we come from and how we ended up in section A," she explained, so I nodded on her side. "I see, so that's why they're staring at us like that," I mumbled before taking out my notebook and pen. After taking out my notebook and pen, I zipped up my bag and gasped when the ballpen rolled down on my table and went into the middle of the classroom. Crap! I followed my ballpen quickly to where it went, "Aha! Got you!" I exclaimed happily and didn't realize that I was on really low ground and bumped myself on the podium above me. "O-Ouch!" I hissed in pain while touching my head, so a lot of people chuckled as we saw that the door was just opened. "Crys! Are you alright? What happened to you?!" Jenny worriedly asked as she ran towards my presence. "W-Woah, are you alright, Ms. Meadows?" David Ronin just arrived and ran to help me up, so I thanked him in advance while nodding at him. "T-Thank you, sorry about that, I just thought I'll lose my pen," I mumbled before sighing in disbelief. I can't believe I hurt myself just because of this freaking ballpen. "If I were you, I would worry more if you'll lose your sanity because of that hit," a familiar voice commented, so we glanced at the door and saw that Calyx was smirking at the sight of me. He looks amused, but the expression on his face remains blank and cold, it's starting to creep the hell out of me. What the hell? Don't tell me that guy is my freaking classmate for the whole freaking year?! Just kill me now! Some of our classmates laughed because of his statement, but he immediately glared at those people that laughed. "Who told you to laugh? Did I tell you to laugh?" he raised his voice, so the whole room went silent as they all whimpered in their seats. "Stop laughing or I'll slit those throats in half," he threatened before casually walking towards his seat where his friends looked highly concerned and embarrassed. "Don't worry guys, he doesn't mean it," Peter Hughes laughed nervously before waving at the people Calyx threatened. "But I do mean it, laugh if it's your business freaking weirdos," he sounded utterly mad, what's wrong with him? He's the one who mentioned that silly statement that insulted my well-being, so of course, they'll laugh. "You're right Crys, he is rude," Jenny sounded like she was furious about what happened, so I just shook my head at her. Just a while ago, she was almost fawning over that guy. "Sorry about him, he's still adjusting, I'm sure you've heard about his past right?" David Ronin defended him, so I furrowed my eyebrows at him. "So you guys haven't heard about his back story?" he worriedly asked, "Well, you're both not familiar here in this University last year," David claimed, so we nodded at him. "W-Well yeah, we're just new here, we were homeschooled," I informed, so his eyes widened for a moment before sighing. "I didn't know that there was something like that, you'll probably hear it soon, it's actually the talk of this University," he smiled before excusing himself. "Backstory? Why do we have to hear his backstory just to understand him?" I commented, so Jenny just nodded at me. "Well, he is the twin brother of the legendary Nyxerian Warrior, he must be included on something important before," Jenny claimed, so I just shrugged my shoulders before massaging my head. "It hurts," I mumbled before sitting right back on our chair, "This is what I get for finding my freaking pen," I bitterly complained. I was about to sit comfortably on my chair when somebody tapped my shoulders on the back. He was such a handsome man, his hair was brown and eyes were the same as chocolates, his body built were praise-worthy too. "U-Um do you need anything?" I shyly asked, so he shook his head before smiling at me brightly. "Hey there! I'm William Jay Falkor, just call me Liam, a human dragon from the Sapphire District, and you are?" he offered his hands, so I hesitated for a moment before reaching out to shake his hands back. "Crystal Raine Meadows, a mortal, and this is my friend, Jennifer Redfield," I pointed at Jenny who just waved at him. "Cool, nice to meet you two and this is Rowen Fajardo from Diamond District, my friend," he pointed at the handsome man that had silver hair with black eyes, waving at us before smiling. He glanced at Jennifer and both of their eyes widened like they were star-struck after seeing each other. "Is your head okay? I saw what happened and got worried, I can make ice right here to cool it down," he offered and summoned ice on his hands so my eyes widened. That's right he did mention that he's from the Sapphire District, he's probably an ice dragon! "You'll do that? T-Thank you," I smiled before allowing him to cool the bump on my head just before the professor arrived. I could feel an intense glare coming from the back, but I didn't mind it as I waited for Liam to finish what he was doing on my head. "Thank you, I feel much better now," I sincerely thanked him, so he just beamed at me before looking at Rowen and Jenny who can't even blink while staring at each other intently. "Well, looks like we have a newfound couple here," he pointed at those two, so I just chuckled and agreed with him. I'm glad that Jenny found her mate this early, I just didn't expect that it would be this sooner. I gripped my hands under the table. She'll probably not spend time with me anymore and of course, as her best friend, I have to understand that. The professor arrived, so all of the students stood up as we all became attentively aware after seeing Mr. Light on out front. I heard he's one of the strictest professors here inside the University, the Leaders of the Districts became the professors in some particular subjects. "Good morning students," he greeted, so we all bowed to him before sitting right back on our chairs as he looked at us intently. "From the looks of your eyes, I don't see any reason why I should introduce myself, but I will just in case some of you were living under the rocks," some of the students laughed because of his statement, but he remained expressionless. He reminds me of someone, he's the same as that Calyx Nyxerian Paraiso, I just shook my head. Why the hell am I drinking about that freaking jerk? "I'm Samuel Light, Leader of the Diamond District, and I'm going to be your professor of the history of our world," he introduced himself, so students clapped their hands. "W-Woah, Samuel Light is our professor in this subject? I wasn't expecting that," Jenny whispered on my side. I almost wanted to smile because she finally came back to her senses and started taking down notes. "I'm sure you all have heard about our recent history, of how we gained our legendary protectors and fighters and how this world was saved by them together with the help of all the people present at that time," I almost wanted to flinch when Mr. Light mentioned the present. I wasn't present when the war between the light and dark happened. I shook my head because I don't want to bring the past back. I'm sure that I'm alright despite all that has happened, Ate Kathy saved me from my parent's wrath either.  There's a lot that I should be thankful for her newfound family and friends. Without them, I also wouldn't be here, standing strong and wanting to be smarter when it comes to paper works. I'll also try to become stronger when it comes to physical abilities. Aside from my goal of excelling on paper works, I also have to improve on my physical abilities. It's part of my bucket list this year. "A lot perished, disabled, a lot got stronger, the changes that have happened wasn't all in vain and it's all thanks to our efforts," Mr. Light roamed his eyes around our surroundings, his eyes landing on the back because he probably saw Calyx. I don't know why I assumed that but I just know that he looked at Calyx intently, "There were also people that were engulfed by darkness, but they cling on to the faint light that they see and survived," a lot of students starting murmuring, so Jenny and I watched them as they all look at Calyx intently. "Uh, did he do something before? Our classmate seems to have known his history, why did we never hear anything about him?" Jenny whispered on my side, so Liam and Rowen tapped our backs. "Calyx Nyxerian Paraiso was part of the Shadow Army before," my eyes widened after hearing Liam whispering those words, I didn't hear about that, even from Ate Kathy! "W-What? H-How come that he's here then and he was there at the wedding of her sister?" Jenny curiously asked, so I wondered for a moment. "I-It was said that Shadow Flames could manipulate someone if they're not a wielder of light and white flames, so Calyx was probably being controlled before because from what I've heard, Calyx is just a human dragon and he was probably saved by his twin sister," I claimed, so Rowen agreed with me. "Yes, your assumption was right, he was saved by his sister and I also heard that he fought off the darkness because of his love for his lost twin sister. I heard those twins had a tough past, so it's really an honor to be in the same room as him," Rowen commented, so I couldn't help but glance from behind. I really didn't know that he had a past like that, is that why he's so mean? I shook my head, being part of the Shadow Amy before isn't the reason why he's like that. From the way his red eyes gleamed, it feels like he doesn't care about that, it looks like he's just worried about something. Our student council besides Calyx looks like they're worried about how he'll react to the rumors that other people make. But he looks like he didn't care as he kept himself busy by reading some book that was placed on his table. "Now before we start from the beginning, may I ask everyone to take out their books and take down notes because everything that I'll say here will be present at your examinations," a lot of the students groaned before deciding to follow his orders. "Quiet down everyone if you don't want to end up in detention," Mr. Light announced before he started writing on our blackboard. To be continued...
